  • Having another good game for MTSU.

She has 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the middle of the 3rd quarter as MTSU leads LSU 41-37.

LSU has not looked good either game. They struggled with Rice. You have to wonder if the potential Mulkey article has their program distracted.

  • Wheeler is a baller.  So good.  Huge loss when she left.  Why did she leave MU?

  • I don't know. She had a good game. She was C-USA player of the year.

Since my original post, LSU just stormed the game and took over.

she got tired of the mediocre standards around here.  why be on a .500 CUSA team when you can play for 1 that wins it every year & goes to the dance?

Yeah it is hard to overcome LSU's 37 foul shots to 9 form MT............

Yes, I notice this trend by higher seeded teams getting the calls at home. MTSU had a lot of starters out of the game with foul trouble/fouling out.

  • I hate to say it, but Savannah said afterwards in the post game press conference today "that hitting that portal was the best thing that ever happened to me. I don't regret that one minute." Granted that she left two years ago before Kim came here. But interesting.

MTSU coach, who is good, said that every morning that he came in that Savannah was in the gym working.

MTSU coach was pretty funny when talking about officiating game today. He handled it well.

She wanted a more competitive team and environment.  Two years ago, MTSU won the conference title and had a Top 25 team, and they returned everything except their starting PG.  She did what Alvaro Garcia Pascual and Nate Martin did... saw an opportunity at a then-conference rival and went for it.  They didn't lose much at all in her two years there.

It is fairly interesting, because had she stayed, we likely would not have landed Beeman last year, and I'm not certain Caldwell would have been as successful in year 1 without some of the leadership qualities Beeman specifically brought.  I think this is a case that probably ended up working out the best for all concerned.

She also may not have liked sharing the stat lines like we do here, now.  Might have been a bad fit like Ro.

  • I heard from someone involved in the program that the main reason Wheeler left was NIL - when some of the male athletes were getting cars and other perks - she asked ?where?s mine??  She either didn?t get anything - or, not as much as she wanted - so, she left.
