  • 1. I think Huff did a good job under the circumstances. Honestly our 1st year head coach did just as well as Doc would have with x amount of coaching experience in his 12th year as a head coach so it's an upgrade for me. No way Doc beats WKU with that QB and those receivers. If Wells doesn't get hurt, we win...and I think end up winning a CUSA championship in Huff's 1st year. Just bad luck. UTSA got killed by North Texas.

    2. This may be our last football game in CUSA.

    3. The worst thing about yesterday for me was seeing 40 shots of the mildew on the goal posts over and over and the playing surface. Some of you all won't get it...but it speaks volumes. Our playing surface is worse than 70% of High Schools in America. NAIA schools consistently do the little things better than we do (like fresh paint and other house keeping). That is not hyperbole...that is a FACT. The lack of attention to detail, know-how, or want-to is inexcusable. That is "our HOUSE" and it looks like crap.

    4. There aren't many G5 schools that have a good back-up QB. So that is not Huff's fault or even Doc's. Even the announcers said that. If you want zero drop-off between the number 1 and number 2 QB's you are going to have to pick a top 10 P5 to root for.

    5. We were 3-3 at home this year. .500. We have seemed to lose big games in front of larger than usual crowds for a decade or more. When the stands are full, and I know they weren't even close to being full yesterday, but..., we have sent a lot of fans home unhappy (outside of Purdue). That is a killer for future attendance. It's crazy, the old 5th best winning percentage in America is in large part due to the 90's and early 2000's. Over the last 15 years we've lost a TON of home games and have ZERO home field advantage.

    6. Do you ever find yourself writing a post and just close the window...like it doesn't even matter? I've done that 100s of times over the last few months. I'm personally so close to apathy. I know there are many other Herd fans that feel the same. It's just not that fun or entertaining anymore. And that is not Huff's fault. Hamrick and Doc really hurt the football program.

    7. A lot of challenges for Marshall Athletics going forward, but it's not all doom and gloom. I think the future looks bright IF we take advantage of our opportunities and have the right people in charge. If we can't start doing the little things though, we aren't going to be capable of doing any of the more important things.

  • I also hope it is our last game in CUSA. I do agree that Huff did a good job. He learned a couple of things as a coach. Now, he has to deal with his first meltdown and that is something that happened to Doc more than once. I'm not going to say we would have won had Wells not been injured. We just don't know. I couldn't believe how bad the defense looked on WKU's first drive of the 2nd half. Yes, we had a three and out. But they looked absolutely listless out there. No way they should have been tired on their first series of the second half. I hope Wells can play in the bowl game. No way the school turns down an invitation.
