Uh oh!!!
-
Huff seems to like to promote from within. Morrison or Street?
-
Seems like he did an excellent job while here. Wish him the best and hope we can find a good replacement!
-
While I would have loved to have kept Guidry, it's nice to have a coordinator someone else wants.
-
Losing a coach to another G5 that's supposed to be our peer is always a kick in the nuts.
I really hope Huff brings in an experienced DC. I don't want another work in progress like we have with at OC.

Not sure why that is a surprise. I said that would happen before the bowl game even happened. No way we have a top 10 D and don't lose that coordinator.
-
I wish him well, but I think he could do better in the long run. Tulane is good now, but for how long? Including this season, Tulane has had only six winning seasons since that undefeated season in 1998.
He's from down that way which may have played a role.
-
If only we could trick somebody into taking trickett lol.
-
Tough loss

Tulane is a very good academic school with a lot of wealthy alums. There endowment is close to $2 BILLION while MU endowment is $250-300 million. I wouldn't be surprised if Guirdy doubles his salary at Tulane. If you listen to Coach Huff's podcast, there are SBC schools that pay more salary to their assistant coaches than MU does for its assistant coaches. If Guirdy does well at Tulane, he will move up and double his salary again.
I remember when we were going into CUSA when Houston and the other schools were members. Bob Pruett said our assistant coaches salaries couldn't compete with the other member schools salaries.
-
i guess nobody will be surprised, even the timing.
another test for Huff. he seems to be having to deal with more changes and hurdles than any other recent Herd HC.
coordinators as well as HC changes obviously have potential to change a program for good or bad. it's easy to think negative since there was really no where for this D to go but maintain or go down. besides X & Os and related, examples might be retaining or signing unsigned players
-
Guidry's ties to Louisiana have to be the reason right? After the realignment AAC probably isn't as good as the SBC in my opinion? We'll have to see how this shakes out.
-
I don't think it is the end of the world. Remember Bob Pruett lost coordinators and assistant coaches and he just reloaded. I can't remember Snyder or Doc losing too many coaches. I guess if the head coach is losing assistants, that means the head coach hires good coaches.
-
Train doesn?t stop ... Huff knows this

That, money and more than likely a step up in the level of competition.
-
MU, one of the best defenses in the country and Tulane got him. I am surprised a few other, higher profile teams didn't come calling sooner.
This is a loss for MU.

Probably not so much on #3. The new AAC is inferior to the SBC.

Sun Belt had the best SP+ rating this season among G5 conferences based on next year's alignment.

That's probably actually true.
However, until UC, Houston & FUC join the big-12, that's not the perception.

Can we get Chuck Heater from Colorado State? I wonder what they're paying? Honestly I like him as a head coach in waiting too.

Chuck is 70... Why would he be HC in waiting?

Yea, a really "tuff" decision!! Huntington and Hillbilly Hot Dogs versus NOrleans and Cajun Food and Seafood!! Duh!! What to do, what to do??

Maybe you should move down there? I mean Tulane has it going and the dudes a Cajun why can't we just understand it and discuss his replacement? Why all the self loathing about another G5 taking him and Huntington sux rhetoric. Should have figured you for a hillbilly hot dogs patron.

Well, after thoroughly rubbing your face in a bowl of fresh dog drek, Bison, I hope you remember to wipe off your beard. I'm sure the scruffy toboggan comes in handy for that task!

Never been to a nastier place than New Orleans. Took alot of scrubbing to get clean when I got home. It was a cool place to visit, but i would never go back, and never consider living there. Took a while to get the smell out of my nose.

Keep blathering gramps.
Hilarious, originally I thought it was just another blathering babbling incoherent post from coal. Gramps thinks that avatar is actually me. He must think that's garbanjo showing his O face in his avatar.
Thanks for the laugh gramps, buy a larger size depends it's cutting off circulation to your brain.

I think the surprise is its to Tulane. Should not be losing a coordinator to them. If it was a mid to high P5 team, no one thinks twice about it.
Hope this doesn't affect Porter's decision badly for us. Nevermind, saw this before the Porter news.

I don't understand the NOLA vs Huntington argument at all.
Completely different places, culture and, to some extent, language...well there is culture in NOLA.
If not for my wife, I wouldn't be back in Huntington...
But I wouldn't choose to live in NOLA, either.
There are other tourist-attraction cites where I've stayed for a few days up to 2-3 months where I wouldn't want to live also.
Among them are the real Charleston, Savannah, Orlando, Myrtle Beach, Tampa-St Pete.
Savannah & Charleston both have incredibly awful areas, similar to NOLA.
BUT some people love to live there. Different strokes.

Yep, every town and city has its warts. Not a fan of NOLA at all. My favorite cities are San Diego and Vancouver but they have seedy areas like everywhere else. A city I like a lot is Statesville, NC. Hudson, OH may be the most picturesque town I have ever been to - beautiful little town.

I'm hearing Morrison will be promoted to the DC position
-
I actually think this is a good thing. Several games last year seemed like our opening game plan was rough on D. Then we adjusted and rolled through the rest of the game. We also were extremely talented at all 3 levels.
Promote Ralph Street or Morrison and let's roll! Would love to see either take over the program one day.
-
I'm hearing Morrison will be promoted to the DC position
I kind of figured that is what he would do.
-
Why not
-
I'm hearing Morrison will be promoted to the DC position
He's been a DC at several schools and has coached DBs and LB. He has a lot of experience. Currently, he's the LB coach and Assistant Head coach at Marshall.

Tulane just won AAC and won an Access bowl game. Maybe he is hitching his cart to an outstanding coach. Being from down there doesn't hurt i'm sure. Private school that is gated and fenced because up against not so good neighborhood. Big shoes to fill here as the last two or three DC's have been great.
-
Mark Snyder's return to greatness?

I'm aware what Tulane did. I'm also aware they haven't done anything like that since '98. Meaning they're more likely to repeat a losing season than last season. That's why it's surprising he would go there instead of somewhere with a HISTORY of winning. If they backslide, which is a good possibility given their history, it will Guidry back a good bit and make that next job much harder.

Or not.
There's a pretty good chance that the Herd will fail to meet expectations also.
At least at Tulane he'll get bigger paycheck & eat incredible food.

Naw, d-bag. Just figured the Pic was just one of your inbred relatives. Just continue with your personal snide remarks cause you have nothing else of any value to add to most of the discussions!.

Good. I'm happy for Tulane and for Lance Guidry. Too bad for Marshall.

Funny. You talking about personal snide remarks and adding value. Carry on blather man. I'll do my best to ignore you as usual but sometimes a response is necessary. Have fun. How you like that basketball record??

And he's going home, funny how we expect or want people to do that here, and they do sometimes but we can't expect someone doing the same at their home.

Has anyone seen anything official on this hiring?
