Welcome to Huntington, Coach Fulks! GO HERD!
-
I'm impressed. I think this is a perfect continuation to what Kim brought here. Kim brought the flash to build excitement and we all knew she wouldn't be around long. It feels like Juli will build on that with stability. Yes, if she's successful she will get the opportunity to move up but it feels like she will continue building what we have at Marshall now and once again have us in a place where when she does move on we keep attracting top quality coaches. Still very excited about the Herd women.

Short and sweet. Good questions and good answers.
Welcome coach Fulks!
Also thank you for the women's team that were at the presser and believe the success can continue to be built upon.
Go Herd!

Welcome to Marshall Coach Fulks. I hope you have much success here and continue what has been started. Best of luck to you. Seems like a good hire.

Very much a cerebral coach. Be interesting to see if she can keep some of the gals who've entered the portal and what kind of gals she can bring in via the portal.
Disappointed there was no Dollar Tree bag at the jersey unveiling. LOL!

Even more glad there was no Hamwreck to pull such a low life stunt there.

Bottom line. Short, concise, and to the point. Agree 100%.

AD Spears has made two great hires with the WBB team. I appreciate what Coach Caldwell got started and I look forward to seeing where Coach Fulks takes the program.
Go Herd!

Coach seems great? audio was terrible (as usual)

That will hurt if all those gals actually do leave. Fulks will have a big rebuild next season with heavy transfers and new system.
-
certainly Caldwell proved herself with a winning formula, but it's TBD if Fulks is a good hire by Spears. the fact that she has a near-total rebuild makes it much harder to win immediately so my expectations won't be as high in the first year. while taking care of the whole student athlete should be a given, elevating a program by continuing to win is extremely important
-
If they all stay in the portal and losing Beeman and Campbell the 2 catalysts at guard to graduation will be a complete rebuild. What happened last year is history and Fulks has an uphill battle next year. I think she is a great hire but she is going to be left with almost nothing. Just replacing those 2 experienced guards alone was going to be a job. I know the portal helps but she has to have time.

Unbelievable, I find this quite sad for collegiate athletics. And it is the same in all major sports.

I hate the portal. But, at least the NCAA is finally being honest and has stopped pretending they care about the student part of student athlete. Next step will be stop requiring them to attend class.

yes, it is almost astounding how many SBC players entered the portal. obviously schools with coaching changes might see a rebuild- schools with poor records might be obvious as well. it might be reasonable to think that players at schools like JMU would want to stay put being that they were on the cusp of being a champion.
just looking only at the SBC, you get an idea of the level of player one might need to go after as simply a competitive baseline (if you know the basics of overall record, personal stats, player capabilities as a result of watching all team's games, etc.) granted, there are always other factors as to why a team succeeds or not- or why an individual player doesn't do well here/there or does great here/there.
i think all these coaches have to have a formula and a good eye but also have to have luck, to some extent. maybe, at the least, watch a couple of a potential recruit's worst games and a couple of their best games.

Keep in mind some recruits will end up at places where that already had a relationship with HC. Often another coach recruited them out of HS and they chose elsewhere. Look at Bella Gerlach in softball. Great HS career but was 6 for 46 as a FR at WMichigan. Comes here and boom, she is an all conf caliber player and likely in consideration for SB POY.

Sydni Scott committed to Fairfield earlier this week.

Thankfully a rebuild can happen in one season if the portal is utilized correctly. I like that our athletic dept has taken the same approach on two consecutive hires finding non D1 coaches who are proven winners?..success is success regardless of what division it is
