You know, none of these things ever pans out in a big way.  Usually some marginal figure gets indicted on a technicality so that the powers-that-be can have cover for the money and time that they spent while the truly powerful walk away.

The press has been trying to emulate Watergate for forty plus years and it has not worked.  Think of:

Iran-Contra
Travelgate
Lewinsky and the blue dress
Valerie Plame
GWB and the National Guard
Benghazi
HRC's email server
And probably fifty more that do not immediately come to mind.

Now the Russians and whatever they did.

Watergate happened because Nixon was stupid enough to tape every conspiracy and had a turncoat/patriot (depending on your POV) in John Dean in his inner circle.  Unless you get a smoking gun--someone admitting wrongdoing in public--nothing is going to come of anything like this.  And every politician owes Nixon a debt of gratitude because he showed everyone how NOT to run a criminal conspiracy.

It is political pornography so that one side can have some talking points to shame the other side.  I am not saying that some or all of any of these scandals had actual merit nor that there are not some people who should be punished for bad actions.  I'm saying that it never happens.  No one that is a household name will do a perp walk because if you're powerful you don't pay for your misdeeds.  Just don't get your hopes up.
