  • No really good ones around the UC campus - very rough part of town. I'd say downtown or Covington may be best.

  • When we did our college visit there, I saw this one within walking distance of campus:

I know a couple of Herdfans who are staying there.

  • Honeslty it is cheaper to stay in Kentucky.  UC's campus is about a 10-15 min drive.  I usually hit up some shops downtown and shoot up Vine St.

Would like to hear from Chris88 or Wesnky if the I-75 work on the bridge is finished.

We spent 5 days back in August seeing relatives and going up to Western Southern Tennis. Traffic on I-75 was all screwed up and backed up from Florence area to the bridge construction.

Maybe done and all fine now.

  • I75 bridge work is complete.

I would suggest staying in Covington, Newport, or downtown Cincy.  Lots of restaurants and entertainment in all three areas.

This link will provide all you need to know:

Also a new exit is open off I71 that takes you right onto campus.  Exit 3, MLK dr

  • There has been a billion dollars in development in the UC area since the Herd last visited Nippert.
There are four new/newer hotels in the Uptown/UC area.  About a month back I checked on the Fairfield Inn (very close to UC stadium) and rooms were $178 plus taxes).  It had rooms then.
At least half a dozen new hotels have popped up in downtown Cincinnati in the last year or so.
Additional hotel clusters at Blue Ash, West Chester, Mason, CVG, Newport/Covington, Florence.
New hotel coming to The Banks (riverfront entertainment district) in near future.
Also,  west of Cincy about 30 minutes, is Lawrenceburg, Ind.  It has the large Hollywood Casino/hotel and other hotels.  May be reasonably priced due to Cincinnati.building a Casino.
Four of the new hotels in downtown Cincy are fine old buildings that were converted into hotels.  All are valet parking.  I recommend the Renaissance (pricey).

Thanks, wesnky.  By any chance would you the name of a new hotel that has just opened up near Great American Ball Park?  They have advertised it on some Reds games, but I can't remember it to save me.  Sounds like it is within walking distance of GABC.  Appreciate any info you could provide.

  • If anyone is staying downtown,  ride the streetcar.  It makes a loop from the riverfront to Over the Rhine.  It doesn't go to UC.  The federal gov't gave Cincy $40 million for going up to UC,  but the mayor gave it back.  It goes near the casino.  I think the cost is $2.50.
Uber and Lyft are big here.  Watch out for the surges.  Saturday night you could pay 5 or 6 times the regular fare.  It's worth it if you're drinking.

I believe the one you are referencing is not open yet. Across street from GABP and in between Holy Grail and Moerleins.  There is a brand new Hampton , 2 months old , that just opened at Newport on the Levee.

Most hotels in Newport and Covington you can walk across the bridge to Cincy.   If you don't want to walk there is trolley service that runs every 15 minutes between Cincy, Covington and Newport.  The cost only $1 each way, yes only $1.

  • THe Hotel Covington is running a 20% off special for this weekend; you may want to check this new, modern era hotel out. It is located in the heart of Covington, great bar area; very modern environment.

We stayed at this hotel for the basketball game. It's new and there are lot good places to eat also. It's a 5 minute walk to the stadium. One of the managers is a MU grad also.
