  • The MAC is broke, making budget cuts and locked in a nominal broadcast deal until 2027.

Adding 2-4 teams and splitting the kitty 16 ways instead of 12, is like a single mom losing her job then deciding to adopt new born twins.

  • i suppose there are a few points/questions that could be made-

as much as it pains me, i keep hearing that we are and have been operating in the red, so do we fit right in?

contracts can and probably would be renegotiated.  would MU, MT and WKU, or whoever else add any value?  i don't know.

maybe we'd save a little money on travel and as academics say, ease the burden on the student athlete.

is the MAC structure inclusive of all sports?  thinking soccer

  • The MAC does have soccer as one of its sports. The MAC has always been our best geographical fit for a sports conference with instant rivalries and history built in. The MAC should be another option for us.

  • Leaving the MAC was like graduating college off to face the world with endless possibilities.

Going back to the MAC is like moving back with your parents and living in the basement, but yeah it?s an option, for all of us.

Jonny,  are you aware of Marshall's financial situation? Pot calling kettle black.

I am not saying the MAC is the best option, but its basketball is good and it does sponsor soccer. You have about six schools close by that saves on travel.

It is nice to be wanted.

  • I'd prefer being in a division with:

    Old Dominion
    JMU
    Appalachian State
    Coastal Carolina
    Georgia Southern
    Georgia State

    Over anything in the MAC.

  • The MAC's media deal with ESPN nets each school $2M per year. Compared to our current $500K, that's a significant pay raise. The MAC has also put two different teams in major bowl games, which is something CUSA has never done. The MAC is also the most stable G5 league and we'd never have to worry about the conference disintegrating around us again. The MAC would be a solid step up from CUSA.

  • This has been my gut feeling the whole time, I hope to God we don?t go there. The press conference the other day really had me thinking the MAC just by the way Huff talked about 🤮

  • Nothing would surprise me.  I overlooked the possibility that soccer may be the reason we join the MAC.
