Don't bring that argument down here in Carolina.   We would loose half of our work force.  All of the land owners would be sick puppies.

terrorists are the threat, not illegal immigrants, especially mexicans.

Mexicans have been the backbone to the United States fruit farmers since the beginning, aside from the slavery of black people.

If USA somehow got rid of every illegal immigrant, the fruit farmers would have to hire regular people at regular wages which would be federally mandated.
That means instead of paying illegal mexicans 100 dollars a week or so, under the table, they would have to pay people minimum wages and provide benefits. That is something that would make our cheap fruit prices sky rocket.

I agree, something needs to be done about terrorists trying to sneak across the Mexican and Canadian borders.

I don't know of any numbers but there are quite a few illegals that come and then leave after the crop season.  They make more in 1 day of working here than they do in an entire month in Mexico.  The ones that come here and live and cause the problems are the illegals that give illegals a bad rep.  
We are 1 of a very few countries that don't have our military on the border.  And it comes down to politics, Rep. and Dems.  McCain, IMO, is a great man, but his border policy is absurd.  And it has to do w/ votes.  
And as far as terrorists coming across the border to do harm, there are other ways that they can strike us that I am much more concerned with.
