Topic: Big Sandy Renovation

I saw on the Downtown Huntington FB page the plans for an exterior renovation of the Big Sandy arena. Apperently the city will put a fresh coat of paint instead of the orange. They will also have professional artist Don Pendleton paint murals on the front and river side of the Arena.

I believe this is a good option to update the building. I know many want a completely new arena, but this will make a huge difference and not break the bank for the city. The Charleston Civic Center is going to look very nice, but it is putting a lot of financial pressure on the city. Huntington does not need this, so using a local artist to make something special seems like a great option for this. Add this the fact that the Big Sandy apperently just set a record year for ticket sales. Things are looking up for Huntington and this is just one more example of the rise.
