  • I am old enough to remember when we were in the MAC in the 1960's. We were always near the bottom or last for the Reese Cup. It is amazing to see how the "Olympic" sports have improved at Marshall. We now have decent facilities and good coaches at most of the sports and have an overall good athletic program.

  • 4th place and only a few points out of second. FB, MBB, and men's Track and field really need to pick it up. On women's side, volleyball and soccer lagging but women's soccer has a chance at improvement with new coach.
"Too many people are thinking of security instead of opportunity; they seem more afraid of life than of death"  – James F. Byrnes

Government is the most dangerous institution known to man. Throughout history it has violated the rights of men more than any individual or group of individuals could do: it has killed people, enslaved them, sent them to forced labor and concentration camps, and regularly robbed and pillaged them of the fruits of their expended labor. ~ JOHN HOSPERS

I think men's track was only added to improve the speed of skills positions on the football team and look for fast guys to poach for football.  JMO.

I don?t think so.  Spears bonus is tied to the SBC cup standings. That?s why he is firing all the coaches he can trying to improve the standings.  They added mens track to get some points.  Just hit the portal and see how you can do.  They do have scholarships for men?s XC so they should have distance runners.  That said the new director of T & F ( not Caleb) ran off the # 2 and #3 XC runners.  So far the newcomers have supplied 1/2 of pt.   All the rest have come from people already here.  The women?s distance runners are still doing well , everybody else times have fallen off yr over yr

  • We should get the lion's share of points for W Tennis and we are doing very well in the M Golf.  I think we have a shot at top 5, but baseball and softball are killing us right now.  Good news is those will only get better.

Well, we were always near the bottom for the Reese Cup in the MAC during our 1990s-2000s run as well.  Football and tennis were the only sports we were competitive for conference championships in the MAC.

  • Sadly, the two big sports, revenue sports, are stinking it up right now, with not much to be optimistic about in the future. Great to see the minor sports competing and doing well. Eager for mens soccer in the fall and to see what the new womens soccer coach can do.

Man I hated being in the MAC, so glad we got out.
