  • On the road today, but how big of a transition is this?
Believe Division 3 does not offer scholarships.

What type of style of play (how many points per game, steals, rebounds, etc.).

They don't offer athletic scholarships but usually have other ways to assist students. It just means they have to be a little more creative in their recruiting.

  • interesting choice.  veteran coach at lowest ncaa level, correct?  hell of a record like Caldwell and the much mentioned Pickens.  likely can spot talent but can she compete for recruits at D1 level?

just rubbernecking, but i'm curious where on the list of candidates she was at the beginning of the national search

  • If you can coach...You can coach. It's that simple.

Nate oats and Dan Hurley were coaching high school ball 10-15 years ago. Look at them now.

  • I wouldn't get too concerned about the D3 label. Some of those powers in D3 would rock 90% of the teams in D2.

Thomas Moore just converted from D3 to D2 and they finished 18-11 in women's basketball and they are in the same conference as Ashland where Pickens is at and also Kentucky Wesleyan which is real good in women's basketball.

  • Some D3 facilities would blow your minds.   Some HC prefer D3.  Can be good and have fun doing it.

The HC for fball I wanted when Holiday was on hot seat was
The coach at Wisconsin Whitewater then Buffalo.
    Lance Leipold.   He?s pretty good.

Biggest challenge for any HC is recruiting and signing higher caliber athletes than your school is used to getting.  That?s how you win and beat the big dawgs.

Congrats to Coach Fulks & MU Admin for thinking outside the box

  • Her team this past season limited the opposition to 43 points per game. Her teams forced the opposition into 20 turnovers per game. Regardless of what people want to say on here, a championship coach will have a good defensive mindset.

Who is worried? Trying to get data on what type of team she's had is not a sky is falling inquiry.

Listening to her interview she's big on analytical and psychology. She also talked about strategies being in the moment and taking calculated risk with the backside they will play better defense and go after rebounds.

Jdon also put in his thoughts and he is someone pretty knowledgeable with the round ball and has supporting opinion with the sport at the different levels.

By myself? I ain't worried about nothing, and who's trying to be her boss?

If you READ the thread you can see I've not said one negative thing about this move. Clearly Coach Fulks has an impressive track record of winning basketball games and in college sports you know what matters??? WINS. But, in typical Marshall fashion we have people worried about ppg or something else because they "don't like that style".

WINNING IS EVERYTHING AND NOTHING ELSE MATTERS.

Funny you mentioned them, heard Jeff Hans was reached out to and was a candidate.

  • So she said on the interview their team shoots an average of 28 threes a game with a focus to get the boards at a high rate if the shots do not go in.

The 50 some minute interview is pretty good to get her mindset on culture and the mental prepping during the season.

  • Interesting her team was one of best defensive teams in country but still ranked among the leaders in 3pt per game. Also was 2nd in country in scoring margin at +27.9 and top ten in assists/turnover ratio.

Throughout history it has violated the rights of men more than any individual or group of individuals could do: it has killed people, enslaved them, sent them to forced labor and concentration camps, and regularly robbed and pillaged them of the fruits of their expended labor. ~ JOHN HOSPERS
