I wish Martin well, he stayed when it was clear his playing time was going to be limited, and really only got noticeable playing time after the demise of the secondary this year. Hate to see local gents leave, but he has a degree from MU and will forever be a son of Marshall. IMHO, I would not expect him to get a bump forward, as others have said, he's a step slow for G5 standouts, and barely effective at safety as a sub. Not sure what or how it is played today, but a (back to the 70s) roaming linebacker might have been a better spot for him, and might be somewhere now.
