Title: Levi Cook
Post by: The Right Stuff on January 14, 2018, 09:26:45 PM
I am starting to get some what concerned.  I understand he still isn't here.  I hope his screw up by having his transcripts sent to him didn't mess things up with the NCAA.

I don't think it would mess anything up since MU didn't accept them. They will still get the originals from Depaul.

If the kid really wants to be here, he'll get it taken care of and fast. I am sure those in MU admissions will help him or someone in the compliance office.

If Marshall has started back, he has to be in class, so probably waiting for official clearance so he can practice with the team

I've seen him at several games too sitting behind the bench with Bennett.

I saw a tweet today officially welcoming him to the team. I think he needs to be admitted and enrolled for MU to officially speak about him publicly. Maybe good news.

Can't help seeing the knee brace jumping out at me. (I've had ACL & PCL reconstruction). Has he had knee problems in the past?

He was at practice again today in street clothes. One more minor issue he still needed to do. Should be ready to practice in a day or 2.

Just waiting on results from a particular part of the physical.  This is not unusual for student athletes. This part of the physical is most often the last results to come in. Just jumpin' through the hoops', so he can literally "jump through the hoops."

He is definitely going to be an intimidating presence in the paint!

GO HERD!

W.Va is the official abbreviation for West Virginia according to the Associated Press. So following AP Style rules that's the way it is supposed to be abbreviated most media fallows the AP Style Handbook.

Interesting. I mean it is silly but interesting. The postal service and everyone else went to WV years ago. W. VA. Is quite simply an abbreviation for western Virginia. No wonder nobody can keep us separate. Glad to know the AP does that. Not surprising I guess...

Yeah, when the postal service made the switch the Associated Press never did. Not sure why but there are some strange things the AP does as far as the rules they have media members follow with their stylebook. I always had to keep a stylebook in my desk when I worked at the Ironton Tribune to keep up on all of their silliness.

Of course the postal system went to 2 letter abbreviations for every state, thus WV

I wear a brace like that and I am every bit as athletic and you could expect a 56 year old pudgy man to be.

Not at all related or even similar but reminds me of story of Eric Dickerson.  He wore every piece of protective equipment NFL made available and would often get jokes about being fragile etc.  But when it was all said and done he went to HOF I believe and is probably more healthy for all that extra equip use

Can we all agree not to call each other d-i-c-k-s so we can remove that word from the censor list?  It's too common as a name to be pulled out of rotation.

I think it will be exciting once we get all these pieces into place. Unless he graduates and decides to go to a program where he can get more exposure, Jon Elmore will be here next year. Add in the other pieces and we are going to be deep. Peneva and Williams will be able to get out on the perimeter more and Watson, Burks and West, along with Elmore, will be a nice backcourt. Saying that, I am still excited about what is happening this year. Williams is developing as is George. Peneva is showing a lot of moxy out on the court. If we go 8-4 over the last 12 games, we finish with 20 wins (RPI figure). That would be something.

I am getting a little worried Peneva may go to the NBA.  He has the tools, and money talks.  Hope DD can keep all these pieces together.

Hopefully we will have this year's key pieces back next year.  If everyone sticks around and we add Cook and Bennett in the mix we will be a tough team to beat.  I hope last night's performance was a sign of things to come.  Its nice to have someone who can carry the squad rather than just Elmore.  Everyone has off nights and I think the difference this year is when Jon is off we have Burks to rely on.  Penavas development is amazing and he gets better with every game.  I'm excited to see what this team can do!

Don’t worry he is not close to being an NBA player. He needs strength, increase of foot speed - in the NBA he would be guarding 3’s - think Paul George - or stretch 4 think Kevin Durant which if you watch Peneva guarding players who put ball on the floor is a weakness. Also his outside shot needs to improve and become more consistent. His plus is he handles well for a big guy in the open court. The NBA game and college game are almost two different sports. He will make a good Euro league player maybe can even get to the top level league where DeAndre Kane currently is. That is pretty good money - not NBA money - but nothing is.

He was dressed and on the floor at practice on Friday. He is a man, for sure. Looks much older than anyone out there except the coaching staff.
He will need help with his outside shots. Not very pretty but neither was Iran's in June. Danny and Mark have worked with him and it is developing nicely. I'm sure the same will be done with Levi. Danny loves to work on player's shots. He is a teacher1

Yep iran had the ugliest shot i had seen because of his size. He is so musclebound up top, he has a hard time going thru the motion lol. But i was shocked at how much better he is shooting it outsude. It still doesnt look like a thing of beauty, but he actually shoots pretty good now. Danny is instructing him constantly about it.
