  • Brian Bennett of ESPN.com is reporting that, according to University of Cincinnati players, coach Brian Kelly told the team that he will not be leaving Cincinnati for Notre Dame.

    While Kelly refused to answer any questions about the Notre Dame vacancy following Saturday's monumental win over Pittsburgh, both Mardy Gilyard and Aaron Webster told ESPN.com that Kelly spoke to the team about the coaching rumors.

    Barrett reports that safety Aaron Webster stated: "[h]e said, 'It's not an issue; I'm not going there.  He said, 'I love Cincinnati, and I'm staying here.' "

    Coach Kelly refused to confirm or deny telling players that he was staying in Cincinnati.

    Earlier in the day, ESPN reported that Kelly had allegedly told an ABC media crew that he would "entertain" a conversation with Notre Dame about the head coaching job.  However, Kelly went out of his way at a post-game press conference to reprimand the media for spreading "misinformation."  Kelly added, "You folks need to get a handle on this, because it's ridiculous."

  • Open door for Skip Holtz.  You know his dad is pushing for his son to join the million dollar coaching club.  Holtz was the last successful ND coach and maintains substantial ties to ND.  Skip has to be on ND's radar.

    Skip's resume:
    Coordinator experience;
    Position coach experience;
    Head coach experience;
    Beating top 25 team experience;
    Successful recruiter;
    Conference champion; and
    Legacy (Lou Holtz).
