Topic: Conference tournament results the last 4 seasons

We are 2-4 in conference tournaments that past four seasons. We haven't made it past the quarterfinal round in any of those four seasons. We have either lost in an opening round or the quarterfinal round in the last 4 seasons.

We have lost to Rice, Louisiana Tech, Texas State and James Madison in those four seasons.

These are the recent results for a coach that proclaims that "it only matters come conference tournament time".

I seem to remember we fired Coach Z because he lost in the first round of Southern Conference tournament when it was held in the Charleston Civic Center. Times and expectations have certainly changed at Marshall.

You are correct. I was a student at the time. I believe we won 20+ games that year yet lost in the first round of the tournament.

But, . . . but . . . but . . . Mr. Chuckles D'Antoni says over and over again that the TOURNEY GAMES are the only things that count, season after season!  SO, can we all say to DANNY BOY, and his "body of work", (in unison) "EPIC FAIL"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOW comes the really, really important part of the equation:  CAN BOTH THE MU PRESIDENT AND THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR RECOGNIZE "EPIC FAIL" AND TAKE THE APPROPRIATE (REMEDIAL) ACTION???

It will have been at least 7 years since we made it past the quarterfinals. That's as long as the tenures of DJ and Herrion combined.

Danny gets special treatment because (1) He played ball at MU about 60 years ago, and (2) he coached high school ball about 20, 30 even 40 years ago, and (3) his family apparently throws a lot of money at MU.

These are the primary reasons he got the Marshall basketball HC position in the first place, and why he CONTINUES in the job a decade later, despite mundane, ho-hum and even MEDIOCRE play and performance overall by his teams during his tenure!

His resume and credentials at the time he applied for the MU job would have gotten NO farther than the infamous "File 13" at about 98 percent of any other D1 schools had he applied for the SAME COACHING POSITION!!
