  • 9/17 vs. Akron
    9/24 vs. L'ville
    10/01 @ Pitt

Hamrick has 9/03 and 9/10 to play with.  Everyone seems to be thinking FCS to get a 7th home game, but I think Hamrick is looking at all options otherwise he probably could have easily scheduled one in already.  I'd look for another 1-1 with a G0f5 team or perhaps a 1-1 or even 1-2 with a Power Conference team.

  • American match-ups:

Tulane available for an away or home game 9/03

UCF available for a home or away game 9/03

Uconn available for a home or away game 9/03 (they already have 3 home OOC games, so a home game for the Herd would work for them.

  • Hamrick not only said we would be scheduling an FCS for a home game, he also talked about how "lucky" we were to get 7 home games.

So lame, I'd rather play a 1-0 vs a big time program.

  • So will our crossover games be with?

As I understand it there is no "rotation" anymore between east and west as there was in CUSA v2.0.  It could be that the computer picks the crossover games, and we likely won't know until the schedule comes out.

I do expect an FCS, just wondering why one hasn't already been announced.

It will probably be Morehead State. Maybe we can get some revenge for the basketball team.

So tired of this smoke & mirrors scheduling BS from Hamrick.

  • ADs in need of adding a win used to be able to schedule programs like those mentioned below, the NCAA is catching on though...

Norfolk State is probably still available.

I don't like to lose, and that isn't so much because it is just a football game, but because defeat means the failure to reach your objective. I don't want a football player who doesn't take defeat to heart, who laughs it off with the thought, 'Oh, well, there's another Saturday.' The trouble in American life today, in business as well as in sports, is that too many people are afraid of competition. The result is that in some circles people have come to sneer at success if it costs hard work and training and sacrifice.- Knute Rockne

So the games with Pitt and Louisville are fake?  I guess the other series we've set up aren't real, too?

What if we added Appy?  Would everyone be happy with that?  Didn't seem like we were when that series was announced.

  • We do not need to play a big time school we have no chance of winning just to say we played them.We may never have a chance to have 7 home games again and we should take advantage of it.

  • SHOCKER Our fans bitching about 7 home games. If it were 7 road games you guys would be bitching about not having enough home games and wanting Hamrick to get a 1-aa team at home.  We are lucky to be able watch our team at home 7 times next year

  • A Seventh home game against another Norfolk, or someone like Hampton, may excite some.  In reality it would be before an announced crowd of about 20-22 thousand.  In reality, about 7 to 8 thou of those will be in the West Lot and will Never enter the stadium.  By halftime, they'll be joined by another 7-8 thou who have exited the Joan.

At end of day, enthusiastic MH will gush on his Thursday radio show with Mike Kirtner about our great fan support, the game enthusiasm and excitement at the Joan, yada, yada, yada.

If Hamrick wants to have a 7th home game, and desires a FCS opponent, then he and his staff should do a little leg work and scour the quality FCS teams in the East/Middle Atlantic area who are in the FCS playoffs.  Find out which of them have potential openings compatible with ours in 2016 and make some contacts.  Schools like JMU, Richmond, Villanova, etc., Quality FCS teams.  Just don't give HERD fans another bottom of the barrel "who dat" opponent!  Doc will be in his 7th season; he doesn't/shouldn't need Hamrick to keeping "greasing the skids" or padding the out of conference schedule any longer!!!

  • Would just like to add that scheduling a cupcake is done by every school in the nation. It is done for the win AND to simulate a live practice to help get the players up to speed... it's basically a scrimmage to get the lower class-men a chance to play and it's scheduled for that purpose.

What happened to the days when the Ohio's, the Kent St's, etc were the cupcakes? Now we lose or fight for our lives against them. Now, it takes a Rhode Island, Nichols St, etc to be our cupcakes. Yes.....our expectations have fallen that far!

There are around 25k butts in seats at almost any home game, regardless of the opponent.

A 7th home game is an awesome thing to have. Especially when we have a good schedule, we can afford to play an FCS.

We will sell more season tickets, and we have another weekend to tailgate and spend time with friends and family. That may not mean much to you, but it sure does to me.

Even when the Kents and Ohios were cupcakes, we still played 1-AA teams back then every year.

you are one of the main ones whining about our schedule and our choice of bowl last year.

so you would rather have another Norfolk St at home than to go play a school like Va Tech, Georgia, Maryland, or someone like that on the road?

  • 7 home games likely means we start the season with the first three games at home - huge for Litton. Also, means extra revenue for the program. As much as I wouldn't mind going on the road for another mid level P5, I'll take 7 homes games next year.
