  • Tacko Fall I believe is also on the team. Would be cool to see Elmore toss him some oops.

He is. I think Jon and Grant Williams can also have a nice two man game. Both are very high IQ players that can take advantage of the short time to prepare

HM, IIRC Coach DD served as the Laker's head coach for a couple of NBA summer league 'seasons'. It'd be interesting to get his insight on who gets playing time and why a player gets PT.

  • Jon was setting at the end of the bench, with about 2 minutes left in the 1st quarter.

He was inserted into the game, no shots yet at the end of the 1st Q.

  • Nice "shout out" by Seth Greenberg saying that Jon was coached at Marshall by Dan D'Antoni the brother of Mike D'Antoni.

  • Elmore has played very good D.  He looks very uncertain on offense.

Hard when you come off the bench for 2 minutes.

Agreed that he looked good on defense.

  • Kinda shocked. He looked uncertain on O. On D I was very pleased to see him keep up like he did.

To his benefit Harrison didn’t play well. I didn’t think Waters did either. So maybe there’s a chance he increases minutes next game.

Yeah, and that doesn't bode well for his chances. There's not much practice time during summer league, but scouts from various pro leagues from around the world do watch practice & practice tape so hopefully he's showing enough then to get an opportunity.

No turnovers, traveling calls, no chance to contribute or screw up...

Hope he gets some meaningful court time next game.

  • He was credited with a rebound in box score I believe. 5 Minutes not a lot and hard to get into a rhythm, but the Celtics were +6 pts with him on floor.

On flip side, Philly had 3 guys who didn't play at all.  I think Peneva saw hardly any time at all with Wizards last year.

Celtics won. Head up and keep moving forward.

  • On the one hand it is a complement to DD and MUBB that Elmore is the 3rd player since he has been here that got invited to play in the NBA Summer League-J. Kelly and Penava. However, as has been mentioned before, neither played very much. I think it shows we have a ways to go before we get respect. It could be position based but yesterday,  Elmore, arguably the greatest player in MUBB history, played less than players from Radford, Kennesaw State, and VMI?

  • In typical p2m fashion allow me to opine that most squads know who they are going to give a real opportunity to ... and I don't believe Jon will be one of those. Apologies for being a nattering nabob of negativity.

  • Not many spots for sure and the summer league is not a showcase event.  NBA teams have goals for their summer league teams that give them some insight on who could possibly claim a roster spot in regular season, who will play on G league squad, and who they keep tabs on. The guys that were drafted are always going to get more PT and a chance to understand the system better...but the entire experience gives the org and the players alike a chance to see how they measure up against other pro caliber players...even if most of their time is during practice. And everything is taped...including practices so it gives the players exposure to all pro basketball avenues.

I believe Brad Wannamaker was the oldest rookie in NBA this year with Celtics after playing overseas etc for several yrs.  He was just resigned to a 1-yr deal with Boston for 1M.  99.x percent of population will never earn 1M a yr doing anything. A person making a decent living making 50k a year would have to work 20 yrs to make 1M. Elmore, imo, will have no problem making a living playing BB if he chooses.  What form that career takes is anyone's guess.
