Brian Anderson might have an injury issue.
Speculation is that Marshall University's starting quarterback is suffering from a cartilage problem in his ribs.
If that is true, it could impact whether Anderson will be the starting quarterback when Marshall (1-5 overall, 0-2 Conference USA) plays East Carolina (4-2, 2-0) at 4:15 p.m., Saturday, in Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.
Anderson has started every game this season, completing 100 of 177 passes (.565) for 1,009 yards and nine touchdowns with six interceptions.
Considering redshirt freshman quarterback A.J. Graham is also sidelined by a high ankle sprain, the starting duties could fall to true freshman Ed Sullivan if Anderson is unable to play.
Sullivan, who has appeared in three games, has completed three of 17 passes (.176) for 117 yards and one touchdown. In the Herd's last game -- a 35-14 loss to UCF -- Sullivan was 2-for-7 for 97 yards, including an 86-yard touchdown pass to Aaron Dobson on a short hitch.
