  • Marshall retired the number 10 basketball jersey tonight at the banquet.  Congratulations Coach D'Antoni!

  • When I bought Mac-Reedo's, I decided to have jerseys made for people who made a difference to me personally.

I made a list and had Greg Rowsey at Dan's make the jerseys.  One of them was #10.  D'Antoni.

I have had it hanging there for almost a year.  We took it down today and took it to the banquet.  Someone from the Big Green told us to put it facing against the way because "Mike didn't know about it."

Then security took it with the one that Marshall had made up and put them behind the podium in the banquet hall.

    LOL

It took 2 security people and 2 people from Marshall, myself and a friend to finally find them so that I could get mine back.

I had heard they were going to retire his jersey but I didn't know there was a framed #10 jersey that Marshall had made.

He did sign mine.  It says "To Mac-Reedo's...thanks for everything...Mike D'Antoni".

     ;D

  • Great story, Connie.

And about retiring that jersey number?  Only about 30 years too late, but better late than never.

  • It seems logical to me to retire numbers sooner than later.....why wait 30 or so years?

Rachael Folden and Kelly Anne Billingy come to mind.  Both 4 time All-American athletes.
Retired 10 years early to follow Herd sports.
Those 10 years have been marvelous.

Hal Greer (16), John  Taft (22), Charlie Slack (17),  Leo Byrd (44) and Russell Lee (55).  Now add #10.

Always been surpised that George Stone wasn't in this list.

  • Seems like #10 is a number that should only be bestowed to those who are going to be great athletes and people.

    Both basektball and football.
