Ok lets do this , one of the experts give us a rundown of

    • when and what years the Marshall basketball program was this national powerhouse. Name the years that Marshall dominated a major basketball conference as well as powerd its way into the NCAA's and into the sweet 16 , the elite 8 and the final four as well as played on the one and only Monday night for the national championship. When did all this take place, when did Marshall even dominate the MAC , the first or second time around , when did Marshall basketball rule the nation as some would have us believe.


    But we have regardless of teams never been in this position at this point in the season , 3 wins  in what is allegedly Division 1 basketball , I sure am glad we didnt schedule the University of Charleston this year.


    Anyway , someone name the years (plural which means more than one there Lancaster and Marco ) when all of this greatness took place. .. heck Im totally pissed and embarassed about what is currently going on but outside of a year or so here and there , when did we have the nation by the short hairs for so many seasons.

    • No issues there DUDE just the fact that if you would take the time to ck the record you would find that outside of a year or two every so often the Marshall basketball program has never been anything close to a powerhouse or the one that many want to make believe its been. Thats not an issue its a fact

    Until Marshall football made a big jump in 1997 as far as getting some national recognition with some players ( not for knocking off any national powers or ranked teams) the truth of the matter is one or two other items in the history of Marshall sports is and are the main reason and reasons many people had any idea as to who Marshall University actually is. That alone is the point of emphasis. Its not an issue at all , its a factual statement pure and simple.

    Umm you've got your people mixed up 'cause I've never stated that.

    But still, I think most everyone on this board would agree that you've got some issues. But keep on posting, it makes the rest of us feel better about ourselves.

    • Marshall was indeed a national basketball power when I was a student - ranked in the top-10 nationally, and MAC champs. Not bad for a little school playing home games in the Memorial Field House. Marshall, still a small school, was only about one-third of the size it is today.

    OTOH, Marshall football at that time was at or near the bottom nationally.

    Now, Marshall football is respected, while MU basketball is the subject of scorn and ridicule - just as Herd football was before the crash.
