  • IF you consider the situation she took over. Of course BP won Natl title in first year but they were in 1-AA, were expected to win, added R Moss and Kresser for 1996, and were loading up for move to 1A.

Kim took over a team 3 games over .500 who finished in mid pack of SBC, lost in 2nd rd of SBC tourney, hadn't gone to NCAA's since 1997, and were picked 9th.  She won the regular season championship with just one loss and then won the SBC tourney. All while inheriting a team, installing new systems, losing her top scorer after 6 games, and in a league that was 3rd or 4th best non power conference league.
"Too many people are thinking of security instead of opportunity; they seem more afraid of life than of death"  – James F. Byrnes

Government is the most dangerous institution known to man. Throughout history it has violated the rights of men more than any individual or group of individuals could do: it has killed people, enslaved them, sent them to forced labor and concentration camps, and regularly robbed and pillaged them of the fruits of their expended labor. ~ JOHN HOSPERS

  • She definitely had an impressive first year and it?s definitely in our best category. Carl Tacy also turned around the men?s basketball team in his first and only year at Marshall.

I will gently push back and say that Carl Tacy inherited a pretty good team.  The Herd finished 16-10 in 1970-1971 and were the number eight scoring team in the nation.  So, Stewart Way left the cupboard decently full compared to the almost empty cupboard we now have.

  • Tacy was hired for Way's last season 1970-1971. Carl had been the head coach at Ferrum and he brought Gary Orsini with him from Ferrum. I always wondered if the Carl was brought to Marshall with the plan to make him head coach the next year?  Tacy had a 67-14 in his three years at Ferrum before coming to Marshall. The head football coach and AD at Ferrum was Huntington native Hank Norton. Hank was offered the MU football head coaching job after the plane crash and he declined the offer.  I always wondered if Hank had sent Tacy to Marshall as a gift?  Hank's brother lived in Huntington was a prominent lawyer; business leader and a  Marshall booster.
