  • Herd up 1-0 off corner kick header from Bamford at 13 minutes in. It was Marshall only serious scoring attempt so far.

  • Halftime. 2-0.

Play the last 10 minutes wasn't crisp but Herd is controlling possession.

  • Still 2-0 with 23 minutes left.

Having some control issues in the midfield.

  • 3-1 Herd with 14 minutes left.

Beautiful free kick just outside the box by Stvernegaard.

  • Are we playing a few non-starters in the back line and mid-field?

  • Match called with 7 minutes left. A bad collision with Prescott left OSU player injured. Ambulance is taking him to hospital.

We had a few new non starters in the second half that kinda contributed to our issues.

    I hate to hear that.
    What type of injury?
In memory of Dr Daniel P Babb who taught so much to so many.

Nasty collision where the OSU and MU players went up and butted heads. The OSU player fell limp to the turf, knocked out. He was twitching. Our guy had a bloody head.
Scary stuff. Thank the Lord the OSU kid finally moved his extremities. Put him in a collar and on a backboard.

We didn't play too sharp. Big lull in our play the much of the second half and got careless when they scored.
We have some things to clean up. Louisville will be tough.

  • I have no clue about soccer and the rules. With the game being called with seven minutes left does the Herd win ?
    Thanks for any info.

  • These spring games are all exhibitions, even though the Spring League award a championship.

We did win 3-1.  Easier in an exhibition to just say, "That's enough," after the injury happened.

  • The Spring League Twitter account provided an update on the OSU player taken to the hospital:

    Quote
He was cleared at the hospital and back with the team. Thanks for asking!

Certainly good to hear he?s doing well. That was a nasty head butt.

Yup, there were some very close calls yesterday. About 10-15 mins before the game was called Fujita got roughed up pretty bad it seemed, and it seemed to affect him the rest of the match. I didn't quite see what happened due to it being so far away, but it was enough to get Grassie to scream at the top of his lungs "In a scrimmage match?!"

Soccer is definitely one of those games where you almost have to give your all, scrimmage or not. Nothing you can do about it, but man it sucks seeing injuries and close calls to starters in matches that genuinely mean nothing.

I didn?t see Fujita?s injury either but he was certainly hobbled afterwards.

The match was rough from the beginning. I think it was early in the 2nd half when Sordo tangled with an OSU player. Shoving and yelling from both sides commenced. I told my buddy that the ref needed to yellow card both or the match would get out of hand. No yellows were given and it continued to get worse.

  • As a side note, I thought the turnout for the game was excellent. I am going to say around 750 or so. Louisville will be a tough opponent this coming Saturday. Hoping for good weather.
