He has zero national relevance. He is unrated, not overrated. Overrated means he doesn't live up to the hype. Where is the hype for D'antoni? We have local opinion of him that is polarized by the haters and the sycophants. Some believe he can do no wrong as he himself does and others believe he will never put the effort in to change the culture of MBB. But that doesn't rate a national story on his accomplishments to determine if he is what people contend he is worth. He has basically 2 accomplishments in 10 years. A conference tourney win and an NCAA tourney win. That's it. I'm not including the pay to play tourney win as we desperately underachieved that year with the team we had returning because Dan didn't have the foresight to recruit and develop a second big man.
Overrated is like a coach that won 3-4 championships with someone else's recruits and then lost with his own guys or like Sanders (Prime) that had success at a lower level and was highly regarded but didn't pan out in the bigtime. The term doesn't apply to D'antoni. You could say that an NBA assistant is overrated as a college head coach. We know for dang sure that is applicable.
