  • Was just listening to someone explain the new proposed 14 team playoff and on the surface it sounds good for G5 because of a guaranteed spot.  The problem is that playoff revenue goes from 10% for G5 down to 5% for G5.

The BIG10 and SEC get 3 guaranteed teams each and also each conference gets 30% of the revenue.  Big12 and ACC get 2 guaranteed spots and 20% of the revenue each.  ND can only get at large and 1%.

We would be better creating a G5 playoff.

  • It's coming regardless. We need to hang on and not voluntary split away from the NFL like new division. They will possibly pay us a bigger chunk of the pie annually just to get rid of us. It could be a way for them to keep from being sued.

From reading through all the rumors  the end game is the networks want an NFL style setup between the SEC and BIG. Which will require each conference to add and maybe even kick out current members. Who knows how many teams they want in this new division, but it sounds like anywhere from 48- 60 teams. There will probably be some current P5 teams finding themselves in the same division as us.

  • In the CFP article I shared in the other thread, it states this:

"There have even been discussions among Big Ten and SEC administrators to break away from the NCAA completely, ESPN reports."

There does need to be a G5 playoff. It should completely separate from the P5 schools. Don't play them. The P5 schools should just join the NFL.
