Fact Check:  False.  Marshall beat ND in Huff's second year as HC.

Carl Reed:  Huff has consistent bowl wins.
Fact Check:  False.  Huff is 1 win and 2 losses in bowl games.  Huff's only bowl win was over UConn.  Huff's two bowl losses were to CUSA schools, UTSA and Louisiana.   

Carl Reed:  Marshall is a tough place to recruit.
Fact Check:  You make the call.  Donnan and Pruett had recruiting success.  Even though it didn't show up in the win column, Snyder put several players in the NFL.  Huff's wins have come mainly on the back of Holiday's recruits.

Fact check:  Louisiana is not a CUSA school it is a Sun Belt school.  We were in CUSA when we played them in that bowl.

Football is not great, but basketball is a train wreck. The  Danettes are just deflecting about the real Marshall problem, Dan. We are looking at 12-20 in basketball, that is a bigger problem. We need take care of basketball now and fix football at the end of the season if we don't do well in the SBC.

I'm not convinced at this point. I think next season can go either way. I do know there's a real possibility we could open 1-3 and if that does happen what expectations should we have for remainder of season? No denying we have question marks regarding new players and new coaches.

I agree.  The upcoming season has a slight hail Mary feel to it. 

The schedule is weakest near the end of the season.  The last three games are against teams that had losing records last season.  ULM and So. Miss are two of the worse teams in the conference.  Ga State, the 4th to last team, finished the regular season at .500.

I agree with him that in today's college environment G5 will be harder to build a program than it was 4 years ago. We won in the past but finding players overlooked by bigger programs. If that happens today the bigger program will just come in and take them. I hate the way it is now but that's the reality.

Curious if you follow recruiting?  May be harder to retain top talent, but we have our highest rated recruiting class on paper.  Not saying it will amount to anything, but I can?t remember MU having a top 10 class in football.  Whether it be transfers or hs recruits. Plus all G5s are all in on the same situation, we just have to be the best of our peers.  It goes both ways with the portal?

I don't disagree, but that's a pretty low bar.  But I would say Marshall football, as we've had great things happen in other sports in that time.  But basically you're just saying Huff is better than Snyder or Doc.  Taking some real risk saying that, lol.

The really horrible thing is he was brought in to do better than No Nuts Punts A lot, and he hasn't been better

He deserved to be fired after last season, but at least he's going all out to change things while bringing in talent that we've never seen here before on paper.

Of course, that doesn't mean anything if it doesn't translate to wins. But I can't say I'm not excited to see us run the air raid for the first time.
