  • In the opener, the Herd beats Fairfield 7-1 behind Savannah Rice's 10 K's.  In the second game, Marshall beat Longwood 6-3 in 8 innings.  Bub Feringa recorded the win and her ERA now stands at 1.22.  Marshall will play Longwood and East Carolina tomorrow in Greenville, NC.

  • The Universities IX sports are growing and are becoming a great representation of our Marshall First movement to excellence, always!
    This effort has became apparent.

We just need effective leadership in our football and men's basketball programs.

I believe our Football program has new potential this fall; what with the recruits/coaches we have coming in via the portal...time will tell if 'Huff' can truly coach(manage)a lick or not...win/lose or draw he has totally misread this assignment so far.
Sadly, our MBB program...we just don't have the players to get the job done...
    We need new players/stars...

So proud of our ladies this week.
Swimming, basketball and softball...they are representing!

  • Hate how every non-football or men?s basketball thread is used to take shots at both those programs. It?s a disservice to the other teams to use their threads to take shots at different programs.

  • Herd wins first game today against Longwood by a 6-2 score.  Savannah Rice throws a complete game.  ECU awaits in the second game which will be played on the East Carolina campus.

Not a good start against ECU - 3-0 no outs

  • ECU already has hung 10 in first inning. Pitching will be an issue , unless they improve as the year goes on (Allison will have a job to do). The good thing is Z has some really good potential pitchers coming in next year.

  • Can we set up an NIL specifically for softball pitchers? We need 2-3.

  • Softball team beat Fairfield 11-2 with Bub Feringa picking up the win.  The Herd beat the Stags twice over the weekend.  I always like to see any Herd team whip Fairfield since they beat us in the first round of the 1973 NIT.  We should not have lost that game!

  • We're playing a schedule this year, too, that can afford us some more losses than last year and still be ok, especially with strong conference play.

  • They went 4-1 over the weekend and are now 6-4. Not bad considering the competition.  The combined records of the teams MU has lost to is 33-6.  They play Drake, Arizona twice and Indiana this weekend and maybe another game I am forgetting. Then two big homestands that include Purdue, Notre Dame, and Butler.
"Too many people are thinking of security instead of opportunity; they seem more afraid of life than of death"  – James F. Byrnes

Government is the most dangerous institution known to man. Throughout history it has violated the rights of men more than any individual or group of individuals could do: it has killed people, enslaved them, sent them to forced labor and concentration camps, and regularly robbed and pillaged them of the fruits of their expended labor. ~ JOHN HOSPERS

The teams we have beat have a combined record of 7-19, but that is a little deceiving. After going 0-5 at FAU, Michigan State went 4-1 this past weekend defeating Depaul,  and splitting with Boise State. Longwood is 3-8, but have played Alabama, Georgia Tech, Villanova, ECU, and Marshall. As has been mentioned before, it all comes down to pitching. Savannah has really good stuff, but is prone to make a mistake. I haven't seen Bub pitch but it appears she has improved, but based on ECU she is still not consistent, and the Freshmen will have to adjust to the much tighter college strike zone.
