Claims it's for personal reasons since his family has lived in Columbia the entire time he's been coaching in Atlanta. GA State postponed spring practice and their spring game.

This is going to be commonplace.  Make the same or more money without the other headaches.  SEC or BIG10 can pay coordinators twice or triple what MU pays for a head coach and position coaches can now make the same as our HC.

Down side is you don't control the total outcome and can lose your job very quickly as when this much money involved you better win and SC did not win much last season.

He has done quite well and can go back to Head Coach some where should he decide to do so.  But most likely sees the writing on the wall about getting competitive teams at the non power 64 level, with the portal and NIL; I don't doubt folks for making these changes. They'll only be some many jobs where money is to be made in the next decade, or less.

Sooooo, for long-suffering HERD roundball fans, is there a ray of hope that some Major Basketball team will tempt, swoop in and whisk away D'Antoni to be an assistant Coach at about twice his HERD salary?  After all, he's got all that basketball wisdom, knowledge, etc., to dispense, etc., to today's players from all those years coaching High School Ball down in S. Carolina!

We can only hope!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
