It's true that today G5 head coaches have many more challenges that they did a few years ago.  However, a G5 head coach that can successfully navigate those challenges and put a winning product on the field is better qualified than a P5 coordinator to be a P5 HC.

We might be seeing the P4 starting to buy up all the good coaches the way they buy up all the good athletes. Just so their rivals can't have them.

we're getting and have been getting a lot of quality portal players overall.  the problem is none of them have been outstanding QBs, receivers or TEs.  average offensive linemen overall.  you can't win with good or very good D transfers alone.

but yes, money wouldn't hurt.  especially for good coaches AS NEEDED

I'd argue that's been true up until this year. Braxton will I think be the highest ranked QB to ever come to Marshall. And we got at least 5 WR's who were better than any on our roster last year (not counting Harrison's kick returning prowess).

I think people are underestimating how much portal talent Huff brought in this year. He brought some serious skill players all over the field. Most impressed with QBs and WRs.

Not getting overly excited. I don't expect a great season. Hope I am wrong. Our two main sports are down, way down.
