  • MU plays Maryland at 6:30pm tonight. No TV that I could find.

Maryland's coach said he'll put what he thinks is his best lineup to this point out there tonight. Maryland is a top program that has been to NCAAs around 20 straight years and has 9 college cup appearances. They also have 3 natl titles under existing coach. They also are among top in attendance each year. If you live in area, admission is free for tonight (just don't park/stray far as it's not in the most friendly area).  Maryland tied VCU 1-1 in first exhibition. VCU is Marshall's opening night opponent in Hton.

Speaking of attendance, out of approx 150 D1 women's soccer games yesterday MU attendance was 20th best (1,045) in country. WVU had 1,500 vs  Indiana (draw).

Finally, some may not know but the men's match vs #7 Pitt is the night before the opening football game vs Norfolk State on Sept 2nd. As of now, only 76 reserve tickets remain for the match.  There are non-reserve GA tix on other side in new seating area but it doesn't tell you how many of those remain. The sections on that side not reserved for students are listed as "medium" availability, except one which is shown as soldout/unavailable. I think the reserve seats for Pitt and all non-WVU opponents are $15 and non-reserve GA tix are $10. WVU game is over a month away and just 29 reserve seats remain. WVU is ranked 6th in preseason poll. Herd plays three top10 teams in first month of season.

    Glad we got season tix.

Now final: Maryland 2 Marshall 1

I'm anxious to see the box score. But still a good showing at a ranked opponent with nothing on line. It does break our win streak that started in spring.

    Next week for real

Yes. Apparently, it was pretty obvious. MU led 1-0 until 74th minute.  Bolma scored both goals for Maryland while Alves scored for MU off a deflection.

Bolma was B1G FR of year and first team all B1G last year. Guess where he went to high school?  South Kent School, CT.  Guess that is one who got away from Grassie in 2021 when we landed Siedu.  Of course that was also year we won natl champ and had to turn around 2 months later to defend it so recruiting was almost certainly much more difficult.

There is a nice article link in other thread about match and the extra 45 minutes played after with substitute players. Maryland won that 1-0.

MU Mens Soccer presser is Monday on ESPN+
