The atmosphere late last year for Coastal vs. BYU was phenomenal

Anyone want to bet that the AD at Kansas who a few years ago signed the football deal with Coastal Carolina and then telling his Head Football Coach "I've just picked you up a couple of easy, EASY W's", is still in the same job at Kansas today?

Totally off topic here and kind of a dumb observation, but it amazes me how these small stadiums (CCU and ODU) look bigger than ours on tv. Is it just because they have an upper decks? Maybe it is just me, but I swear those 22K stadiums look like they can hold 35K.

I was thinking the same thing and yes, I think it's because they have an upper deck.

Admittedly I didn't see the entire game but Coastal's defense allowed some points.  Kansas could have put more on the board but their offense self destructed.   

Coastal appeared to have a very good QB and a few good pass catchers.  Wasn't impressed with the run game. 

If Appy lives up to expectations, I don't see coastal winning that game.

I lived in the MB area for the BYU game. Believe me, a ton of Mormons attended that game. A friend of mine who is a BYU grad drove down from Richmond, VA with a car load of friends to watch the game.

Admittedly I didn't see the entire game but Coastal's defense allowed some points.  Kansas could have put more on the board but their offense self destructed.   

Coastal appeared to have a very good QB and a few good pass catchers.  Wasn't impressed with the run game. 

If Appy lives up to expectations, I don't see coastal winning that game.

I watched the entire game. They are ok, but nothing special. Definitely over rated and no way they run the table imo.

That's how it should be.   We've filled a bunch of teams' stadiums for them in the past.  It sounded like we filled Navy's for them.  We filled most every MAC school's stadium at one point or another.  We took a ton to that first ECU game in CUSA.  We always fill half a bowl game.  We just don't get much in the way of visiting fans here from any team.  If we had our fans plus 5k of theirs we'd always be rocking.

I think the bigger question is why do all of these FBS startups get winnable P5 home games and we rarely do.  Even Purdue was the end of a 2 for 1 or 3 for 1, don't remember which.  But I know we played there at least twice.  Same with KState.  Granted we lost Pitt to COVID.  NCState is the only P5 1 for 1 that's actually ever been in our stadium that I recall.  Louisville and Cincy maybe, but they weren't really P5 at the time those deals were made.

Because Kansas is playing for bowl eligibility. They scheduled Coastal thinking it would be a winnable game against a new FBS team. They would not have scheduled the game if they would have known Coastal was going to be a Top 25 team lol
