Title: Report on MU athletics spending raises questions

A report in the July 9 edition of The Herald-Dispatch spelled out how the Marshall University athletics program finished the 2015-16 budget year with revenues from all sources, including the university, exceeding expenses by nearly $1.2 million. The athletic department's total revenues were nearly $30.2 million, marking the first time they exceeded the $30 million mark. However, more than $13.7 million came from the university (much from student fees collected by the university) rather than from other program revenues.

Here are some responses from readers about that report:

Ignore any comments from Paul Garvin. He's clearly a Herd Hater and a Mountaineer supporter. Why he interjects his BS into every Marshall column is pathetic.

WVU fans always prove a lack of understanding overall state health. Big schools play the smaller schools to help. Hell Tennessee is basically helping get ETSU up and going again with games. Good state growth is all.. but don't tell WVU fans that. Probably wouldn't understand either
