  • Hey fellas,

I am considering investing in a Roku unit for the family.
I have done some online research in regards to reviews -

But I wanted to ask for your input on what
    you think of this product.

( plan is to drop DirecTV and go with Roku.)

      Thoughts ?

Thank you ahead of time .

     Go Herd!

What services do you plan to watch? (Ie. Netflix, Amazon Prime, Sling, Youtube TV, etc.). I cut the cord 2 years ago now and have tried all platforms and services. My best advice is to figure out what you'll be using first, because the user experience isn't always equal on each platform.

  • Thank you both.

Had bare bones DTV - very few channels

$30 in initial purchase plus only $8 a month
    Is a winner.

Subject matter will primarily be movies, sports

  • I purchased the introductory pricing for Directv Now and pay 35$ a month for 120 channels.  Been very happy with is.  That offer is no longer available, but if you are working for a live TV option they are pretty good.  There are others as well.  Few links below with free trials to evaluate each.

  • Youtube TV is supposed to be a good option and includes, or will include, cloud DVR capabilities.  We are still waiting for DirecTV Now to release their dvr.  I have 4 TVs with Amazon FireTV Sticks.  They are great, especially if you have Amazon Prime already for package deliveries.  Haven't missed a beat and save $120+ per month over our old Uverse setup.

I've been using YouTube TV for nearly a year now (got into the pre-release beta program). If anyone has questions about it, let me know. I have been pleased with it. I've used Vue, Sling and YouTube TV. YouTube TV lacks in the entertainment channels dept. but for the price it has the most complete sports package of the group. You can pay more with Vue and get more sports, but I try to keep the costs down. Added feature is you can share it with 5 other family accounts at no extra cost. I don't care for baseball much so i tend to switch over to a $20 Sling account during summer months when I don't watch much TV.
