  • JMU was much better than us. Hortin starts for us at the 3 imo, and will be a good player.

    sure hope so

So he was good enough for a tourney bound JMU team to recruit in the portal from CoC last year

But he?s not good enough for a 13 win Marshall team this year

    Got it.

  • Believe when it is announced...both on if it happens and also the quality of the recruits.  We need guards so if Corny is holding out for Kyrie Irving he better deliver.

GOOD LORD ..... why would we want a LeeBron wanna be cry baby like KYRIE !

  • Horton is no doubt good enough to play here, and would of been a starter.   It just isn't going to work out.

  • Jakob and Cade Gibbs from NAIA Grace College.    Both really solid players.   Both incredibly smart, already have their MBA's.    One was DPOY in their league.    Their career record is 66-5 the last two seasons.

  • Don?t know anything about these twins other than reading their stats at a NAIA school. I?m certainly not impressed by the recruiting that Corny has shown so far. Definitely not excited.

They played in the Crossroads League. I believe we played Bluefield VA which was a NAIA school this year.

  • I'm going to give him a chance to see who he signs. These 5 recruits will determine if I get season tickets this year.

The 3 recruits so far haven't swayed me either way. I think the 3 are solid players and look like an upgrade especially on defense. But what he brings in at the guard position especially PG will be the deciding factor for me. And if anyone thinks Corny had a tough recruiting job this year then next year looks very depressing. At least he had Martin and Obinna to build around. Next year we lose Obinna, Martin, Dawson and the Gibb Brothers. Talk about bare, yikes!!!

  • None of us really have an idea about how these guys are gonna work out.

I just hope that Coach Corny is flexible enough to work toward the players' strengths and work around their weaknesses. Conner is a lot better player than he was allowed to display with the previous HC.
In memory of Dr Daniel P Babb who taught so much to so many.

a part of me says that Conner could have done more to step out from the umbrella a bit, to create for himself and others- he was a SO for goodness sakes.  only time will tell if he's better in another system/uniform.  not to be rude but "a lot better" is pushing it for me personally based on evidence and i won't bet on it

Yes, based on recent events at Ivy League schools those degrees are going to be worthless.  They are pushing an ideology verses an education.

  • I'm not saying you guys are wrong, because I really don't know, but just a thought. Just become we show up on some kids list of schools that have reached out to them after they entered the portal doesn't necessarily mean we expressed strong interest. With all the numbers in the portal I would not be surprised if we "expressed interest" before we even knew if we wanted the kid.  This transfer window stuff with all these players becoming available in a short time frame feels like a huge game of musical chairs.
