Given the post spring game transfer of these players my guess is the players made their decision after meeting with the coaching staff for their post spring evaluation.  The players probably weren't living up to expectations or someone jumped them on the depth chart. 

Since the end of last season 8 offensive linemen have either transferred out or entered the transfer portal.  6 OL have transferred to Marshall and are either enrolled or committed.  That doesn't count an incoming LS.

7 DL/Edge players have entered the portal or transferred out.  4 have transferred to Marshall. 

Someone remind me, was it the OL or DL that Huff was saying we were short on at the end of last season which led to problems?

If that's the case, our football coaches the last 2 decades have been more wrong in their evaluations than right.

That's where I am.  Huff is bringing in a bunch of players from the portal, just because those players were second or third team at a P5 school that doesn't mean they are going to be able to crack the depth chart here.  When Huff first arrived, I believe he underestimated the talent level he would need to bring in to improve what we had.  Maybe I'm giving him too much credit and he is just a poor evaluator of talent.  Recruiting is a lot different at a G5 school than a P5 school that has several quality control specialists and consultants on staff evaluating players before the player's name ever gets sent to the coaching staff to schedule a visit.

I finally got this updated again. I decided to add a section for players that transferred in and then back out during the same offseason. As discussed above, there are two so far. Even with the portal now closed, grad transfers are exempt in that they can transfer outside of the portal window.

That has changed with the latest NCAA rules from last week.

Graduate transfers will now need to enter the portal before their respective sports? final transfer windows.

That means for football their window closed on April 30th.

All updates have been made. Over the past week I added seven players that had previously entered the portal but had not been widely reported. Most were depth players and/or had not seen the field. I also added bios for our recent incoming transfers.

Go watch some of Huff's previous videos and comments. He has stated that he builds depth with the portal. He has stated he brings in players to push the starters. Too bad ole Dan never learned that lesson.
