  • Business owners should take a serious look at being a sponsor.  The weekends they run they have multiple hours of tv time on both Friday and Saturday via the Speed channel and ESPN.  Not to mention all the highlights that get from pre/post race.

  • I'd love to see what would happen if they let Brett drive on an oval.  So far it's only been road courses, which is his self proclaimed comfort zone, but after watching him perform well at Montreal last year I think he can slide that car around an oval just as well.

And to reiterate Dale's point, if you are a local business owner pony up and sponsor the car, with the need they have you may be able to get a larger spot on the car for cheaper than you think.  And yes, NASCAR is huge...given this is the Nationwide series but it's still spot on NATIONAL coverage for 2 days with multiple TV airings on SPEED/ESPN/ABC.  It's an absolute A-One opportunity to get your name out there.

  • As Wolf knows, I've been in contact and spoken with HerdRacing President Dana Tomes one several occasions. Folks, they have a great product and are determined to be a winner. Dana and Brett are both Marshall graduates and are representing Marshall on a National stage. What they lack is funds and a big time, long term sponsor. It takes money to keep the car going and be competative and Dana told me that they can be competative with $25,000-$30,000 per race.

If you know of anyone that would like to sponsor them, even for a single race, please visit the link below and contact Dana Tomes. Also, they will be running in Nashville 300, which will air on ESPN at 4 pm on April 3rd, as the #75 Duvita car. We at HERDFANS wish them the very best of luck. You can follow them on their Blog as well as get updates on our HerdFans.com Facebook page.

When asked about the Marshall University paint scheme and how that came about, Dana said that he and co-owner/wife Tonya are both Marshall grads. They wanted to tie the team to the state of West Virginia somehow, and build a loyal fan base.

The name Herd Racing also comes from the Thundering Herd mascot of Marshall. The car's number 75 honors the 75 who were killed in the 1970 Marshall plane crash. And the team colors of green and white are the same as the university. Rowe is also a Marshall alum and the first Nationwide driver from West Virginia.
