  • I came across this search engine that donates money for each search you complete. Marshall is listed as one of the beneficiaries you can pick from.  I don't know the inns and outs, maybe someone else on here does. From what I understand it is powered by yahoo. Is anyone else familiar?

  • I'm sorry. The website is

     www.goodsearch.com

Is anyone familiar with it? Is it real or a hoax?

  • It's a legit site. My company uses it. I'm not sure the ins and outs like you, but they try to encourage the employees to use it.

  • Thanks for the reply. Since it's legit, I think I'll try to use it from now on. Just think if everyone on this board used it. It could certainly add up over time.

  • Up to $1.70 now.

Looks like around a penny a search.  Every little bit counts.  Sounds to me like this should be the default page on the university computers.

  • It's up to $1.80 now. It looks like they have also made arrangements with some online retailers to give a percentage of their earnings to the beneficiary of your choice.

A penny a search doesn't sound like a whole lot but I could see where this could spread like wildfire.

  • Perhaps we can make this sticky and also spread the word to the other Herd boards?

  • I just added it to my Firefox search engine box from Mcguyver's link.

    Took about 4 seconds.

If I buy my new computer from Apple from their site they will donate >$100 to MU!!!!

If you are buying stuff on the internet for x-mas may want  to go there through this site.

My purchases from Mac Mall alone would pay for at least one scholarship! I love that site.

  • It came too late for Christmas shopping season for me but we have increased the monthly donations by several hundred percent since last fall!!

    KEEP SPREADING THE WORD!!!

Month   Searches   Amount Raised from Searches (est.)   New! Amount Raised from Shopping – Updated Weekly   Total (Estimated)
    August              73             $0.98                   $0.00             $0.98
    November   40            $0.40                   $0.00                      $0.40
    December   556          $5.56                      $0.00             $5.56
    Total: Year-to-Date        669                        $6.94       $0.00                                                    $6.94

Ok, that is really hard to read....Basically through Nov, we made $1.38.
     In December we made $5.56.

So far in Jan. We have already made $4.77!!  That is only 477 searches,  kepp searching people.  I am finding that the searches are very specific for what I am looking for.  I never have to go to the second page.

I noticed the only $$ we are getting is from searches,  Look at the Companies you can order through to start racking up real $$$$.

  • Looks like we will close out January at $11 and change.  I added my $0.02 (literally) with two quick searches on Rick Minter.

  • $11, huh?  Well, we're .0000018% on our way to building that IPF.   :(

Kayo will asked to be paid in silver certificates and hide them in his mattress... he still fears the ol' Savings & Loans.

  • Well we have $6.73 so far in February. Don't forget if you're shopping online to use this site too. I'm guilty of that myself. I bought something off E-bay just the other day and remembered too late. I could've kicked myself.
