  • Affecting the P5 playoff is not the point of the G5 tournament.  The P5 isn't going to give the G5 any more than what they have in the past which is pennys on the dollar and little respect.  The point is to have a G5 champion, demonstrate that the G5 plays good football with talented coaches and players, and to get more money coming in for the G5 schools.  Having a G5 tournament is more about the G5 schools than it is about the P5 schools.

G5 tournament would need to be worth about $150M to beat the $1.8M per school we currently get with the P5 format or about 1/10th the P5 playoffs.  If they try this they need all the ratings they can get for this tournament right out of the gate.  I think it could be popular and maybe lesser bowls will help sponsor the games to add to the money.
