  • Clarksburg native, Jim  Crutchfield's Nova Southeastern team lost a heartbreaker to Minnesota State (Coach Hayden Fox was in attendance 😄) in the championship game for Division II.  A corner three-pointer, with one second left was the game winner.

Crutchfield is 68 years-old but he has over a .850 career winning percentage.  With our success with D-II coaches, I wish he would have been included as a replacement for Dan.

Pipe down, talking about actual coaches.  Those you mentioned are as imaginary as Dan was.  It's comical watching the bitterness ooze through you, though.  Keep em coming.  I feed off of it, like a vampire.

  • Pretty sure they won the National Championship last year over his old school West Liberty.

Go look at Nova?s record before Crutchfield took over.

I know for a fact he wanted the job when we hired DD. I?m not sure we could get him at this point.

  • If he was that good, a D1 would have snapped him up long before now. Maybe he doesn't want the headaches and pressure of D1.

  • He could of had a D1 job long ago with his resume.  He had to have decided no on that.

  • At Marshall we only hire inexperienced.  It doesn?t matter if you?re the high school janitor or a dump truck operator.  Throw your resume in the pool and you?ll be considered.  So sick of our so called leaders!

I believe, at one time, his wife was a really good lawyer based out of Wheeling. I had heard they still owned their home in Wheeling.

He got back to the national championship game after losing all 5 starters from last year's national championship team. Most of those players went to D1 schools that made the NCAA tournament. That in itself may say something about his eye for talent and development skills.

I thought we missed the boat when we didn't go after him earlier in his coaching career. At his age and stage of his career is probably happy where he is at in Florida. That is a nice area.

  • Another interesting hire was Utah State which hired Jerrod Calhoun. He was the former Fairmont State head coach who had most recently been at Youngstown State.

Calhoun was an assistant at wvu under Huggins (2007-2012) before taking the Fairmont job. FWIW: The MAC board said that the BGSU and Toledo coaches were also candidates for the Utah State job. The former coach at USU left after one season to become the head coach at Washington.

He didn?t want to take any D1 job just to get a D1 job. His wife had a successful law practice in Wheeling.

They already owned a home near his current school. That situation just kind of happened.

He really wanted the Marshall job when we hired DD. We really missed the boat on that one. He is a phenomenal coach and a good man.
