  • "Word has it that Mark Whipple has accepted a job with the Philadelphia Eagles organization."

    Above quote doesn't sound firm.
"I have heard people talk about the healing process - that sounds good - or closure," Dawson told the Los Angeles Times. "I don't know what closure is, but that area of my life will never be closed. But I feel alive again. I feel I can smile again."

  • To do what? OffensiveCoordinator? They had Marty Mornhinweg as the Asst. Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator. Someone must have been let go if he's going there and I haven't heard or seen anything on NFL.com. However, if it's true I hope we don't just settle for someone like Briner(who seems to be a favorite of some for some reason!??-See Herd Grapevine)...not a fan of him! What happened to Scelfo? He'd be better than Briner! Peterson would be better than Briner! If Snyder just settles for some "johnny-come-lately" coordinators on offense and defense, then we'll be sitting around next year watching bowl games instead of playing in one...again!!! That might be good though...we might be able to get rid of him then! I've never been a fan of him either and I don't believe he was ready for this job! I believe he's a great recruiter and I'm sure a good defensive assistant, but he's in way over his head as a Head Coach!!!

I feel the same about Briner! Actually neither can keep their job...or so it seems! I thought we had Scelfo before Whipple's name began to surface!? He wasn't a good head coach but he was a pretty good offensive assistant! I have this bad feeling that it could be a LONG 2008 season!!!

  • Snyder is hired and then after a year is given a contract extension to 2013

Snyder has third straight losing season and wants a vote of confidence that his job is safe.  Not sure what level of confidence was ever given to

Snyder fires his OC and loses DC

Snyder can't find replacement coordinators - well known names say no[/li][/list]

Was Snyder given enough of a vote of confidence, in private perhaps, that his job was secure and therefore he fired his OC but now he is told that next season must be a winning season?  Or, was Snyder always told that next season had to be a winning season?  Has MU been consistent with its expectations of Snyder?

  • The future of Marshall Football is the real problem right now. The past 3 years have proven that. This University cannot withstand more of the same.

Snyder was "promoted" to coordinator by Tressel both times months before circulating his resume and moving to a new job.

He has never been hired as a coordinator.  Marshall BOG are the only ones genius enough to hire Snyder as a coach.

  • If true, probably "trickle down" from John Harbaugh going to Baltimore.

  • The sky is falling...  :o Sure doesn't take long for people to start complaining when the cards don't fall in our favor.  I want to see the best for our program as does everyone but just because we don't land Bennet and Whipple doesn't mean we aren't going to find a good coach.  I hate to say it but we are a Stepping stone University for Coaches so it's going to be hard to get a solid established coach.  We will end up with a coach that is fairly young and up&coming.  So lets recruit football players and then get our Coaches.  We will be ok.  It is just the part of us Marshall Fans feeling that we are the Best program out there but in fact we are just a Mid-major that gives us the sky is falling syndrome.  I am very guilty of thinking that.
