I like Jacob, and he appears to be a great teammate. As far as his play on the court, thought, let's be real.
He's way too tall and slow to be a PG. He can't drive to the basket and smaller, quicker guards go around him with ease.
He doesn't shoot well enough to be an everyday "2". He can spot up fine, but so can I and I'm 63. Same defensive liability if he's guarding the other team's "2".
He fits best as a 3, but that spot is usually reserved for a lights out shooter and/or a player that can get his own shots and drive to the hoop. Jacob can't do any of those on a regular basis. He is, however, really good at taking passes or rebounds at the 8-14' foot distance and knocking them down. That, to me, is a 7th or 8th player, playing no more than 10-12 minutes a game.
Trying to have him play the "4" or "5" is doomed to failure b/c of his slight build.
I'm not being critical of him as a person b/c, as I said, he seems like he's a terrific person and teammate. He tried to do what Danny asked him to do, but it was never a good fit. I just don't see him being successful at the mid-major level.
Just my $0.02.
