  • The more time that passes the more likely it is that DD will return next season.  Spears and Smith are on the clock.

With the women playing in the championship game today it is unlikely we hear anything today.  I have to believe that Spears and Smith are both at the game.  Maybe by the end of the week?  If the intent is to cut DD lose then the calls to the lawyers and donors for the buyout either have been made or will be made this week.

  • Just an fyi, Dan was at the women's game yesterday (sitting next to his fans).

Think we will get something from the AD later in the week, but most won't like it.

  • so weeks ago some on here mentioned there was no buyout clause.  true or not?

anyway, if i had to bet, i bet he'll be back but his statements don't bode well on getting enough transfers to make any difference.  if not it'll likely be another sht show

If you're referring to his fans being Adam Williams, Mark Cline, Christian Spears and I assume his wife, Julia, sure. Otherwise, no.

  • Nothing will be said at all.  Spears and Smith will just let it disappear in the dark.  You will see a super easy OOC schedule to get us to a winning season and the message will be Dan turned it around and he will finish out the 2 years remaining on his contract.

Interesting, because his biggest supporter on here posted on social media he would be sitting with Dan watching the girls play yesterday.

  • The sad part is that if he is brought back and his team finishes .500, then Spears will say that his team has shown improvement and he deserves to finish out the final year of his contract.

One would think it would be humiliating for Dan to watch a rookie coach playing for the SBC Championship? I wouldn't submit myself to that humiliation by showing up in person to watch the game if I was Dan.

  • We all know he's coming back.  No sense in stressing or worrying about it.  It's stupid, and he should have been let go a few years ago, but the decision was made last year when they gave him a 3 year extension.  We are stuck with him, for good or bad.  It is what it is at this point.

  • If Obinna and Martin transfer, or just one, we could get Michael Jordan and Larry Bird and still not be very good next year. We lose our two scorers already. DD and staff would have to bring in 2 -3 very good guys to get us over .500 next season. Sadly, I don't think they are capable of that.

  • Just an fyi, Dan was at the women's game yesterday (sitting next to his fans).

A real head coach after the disaster of a season would be out recruiting......knocking on recruits doors.......going to the JUCO regionals which were taking place.......looking at film in his office of potential recruits.

I don't want my head coach after finishing with 20 losses lounging around the women's tournament and enjoying sunshine in Florida. He should be out beating the bushes for players. He should also be having talks with current players that can't cut it at this level about moving them to lower levels of basketball ie NAIA/D2 schools so that we can free up scholarship money. But as usual, we will be behind the curve as we have been recently. No sense of urgency to improve this program.

Athletic staff should be as women are still playing.  Dan should be recruiting and working after the crap show he gave us.

You may be right, Big Tim, but if he's retained the Administration will shown that they are not serious about building a Basketball Program.

Well, if they don't care why should the fans care? Time to move on and hopefully MU officials in the future will hire a good coach and make a commitment to the program. Until then, I have lost all interest in MU MBB.

  • If MU retains Danny, then the immediate job for Smith and Spears is to do some SERIOUS hustling and raise additional money for KIM TO RECRUIT SOME REAL, AND BETTER, TALENT FOR THE HERD MEN'S TEAM NEXT SEASON!!

Goodness knows, it wouldn't take much for her to land BETTER talent, whether from the Mountain East Con., other D-II programs, or elsewhere, than what "High School" Danny usually lands season after season!!
