I don't think it was ever alive. Nothing about the phrase "Derek Dooley floating the idea reportedly with the backing of private equity" evoked any confidence.

It's just too clunky to work while the G5 still gets a bid to the real playoff. Either you have a tournament to see who's the 2nd best G5 team (yay?), or you find a way to have the best G5 team play in both tournaments (logistical nightmare).

If it ever happens, it'll probably take the P2 splitting away from the NCAA or the P4 shutting the G5 out of the real playoff entirely.

I attended this past Sunday's game against GA State.  We purchased tickets at the ticket office 30 minutes before the game.  Had great seats for $20.

Got to attend my first baseball game Sunday.  Love the new stadium.  As a kid my mom would drop me off at the old St. Cloud stands and I'd watch a doubleheader with two bucks in my pocket for all the Coke, popcorn, and dogs I could eat!  This is amazing upgrade!  Enjoyed the burrito at the food tent along the 3rd base side.

I think the proposed G5 top 25 will replace the G5 playoff on deciding who makes the CFP.

Doubt it.  The CFP committee will decide that the same way they decide it now, regardless of the coaches and AP poll.

I would have no problems buying the SRO and bringing lawn chairs.  There are a lot of spots where you can sit on a lawn chair and get as good a view as the reserved seats (if not even better).  Even if reserved seats are available, I would probably still opt for SRO.  I'm almost sure you can also find unused reserved seats that you can sit in if it's still empty after the first several innings.

Affecting the P5 playoff is not the point of the G5 tournament.  The P5 isn't going to give the G5 any more than what they have in the past which is pennys on the dollar and little respect.  The point is to have a G5 champion, demonstrate that the G5 plays good football with talented coaches and players, and to get more money coming in for the G5 schools.  Having a G5 tournament is more about the G5 schools than it is about the P5 schools.

G5 tournament would need to be worth about $150M to beat the $1.8M per school we currently get with the P5 format or about 1/10th the P5 playoffs.  If they try this they need all the ratings they can get for this tournament right out of the gate.  I think it could be popular and maybe lesser bowls will help sponsor the games to add to the money.

Isn?t seat geek a reseller?

 If so

Mu can?t sell those tickets as they?ve already sold them.  The owner of those tickets is selling them.

Interesting thing to me in this discussion is there are walk up reserve seats available and there aren?t online.

From everything communicated before the season, any reserved seats were to be purchased via Seat Geek. Only SRO could be purchased through Marshall. Obviously the demand wasn't as high as MU thought - so they now sell them at the stadium. Good for the fans. jmho

We were fortunate enough to see this band open for Eric Church in Charleston, SC. It took one song, and I knew they were gonna be good!

The Red Clay Strays are awesome!! I first heard them about a year or so ago, loving what I have heard so far!

HerdFans / Re: Group of Five schools to unveil all-new Top 25

This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. 1.) There is no such thing as the "G5" or "P5 (or 4)" for that matter. We all play in the FBS. 2.) Why in the world when most every FBS school STILL has a shot each year at (and usually does get into) the REAL TOP 25 (if they have their sh!t together) would you want your own pathetic "Top 25" of nobodies.

I'd much rather be ranked 24th in the country in a real poll than #1 in some pathetic spin off poll. We can all keep reducing things down until we get "ranked" at a number that makes us feel special I guess. Why stop at the G5...lets look at enrollment...we can make a top 25 of schools with under 20k...or maybe just look at the Sun Belt...we can assure ourselves of finishing in the top 2 each year if we just look at the state of WV. But hey we can be the #1 University in the city of Huntington each year if we do a ranking of Universities in Huntington, WV. Aughh #1 there we go. We did it! Warm and fuzzies all around!

I don't think the powers that be would have ever thought the smaller schools would be this dumb and embrace the derogatory term "G5". They won't have to kick us out of the FBS...we will kick ourselves out. Psychological warfare. It wasn't even real bait (it should have been a deterrent from breaking away from the FBS and motivation to STAY) and yet we still somehow took it hook, line, and sinker...and found a way to tuck tail and leave. Crazy. The story will go from the larger schools "We never kicked them out...we just called them a name one day and they felt insecure and left."
