Former Marshall linebacker Mario Harvey has signed a free-agent contract with the Indianapolis Colts, giving him another chance at making an NFL roster.
The 6-foot, 250-pound Harvey signed as an undrafted free agent with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2011, but was one of the final cuts. For much of the fall, he stayed in shape in Huntington and was seen at many MU practices.

Cody Slate signed a futures contract with KC....
Somebody just reported that Cody signed with the 49ers, what are these contracts anyway? Just invitations to next years pre-season camp? Or are they on the team's practices squad? Or on the 55 man roster?

I am sorry, I may have messed up, when I noted that Cody slate signed a futures contract, I didn't pay attention to the date... When looking up the contract it was dated 2011, not 2012. I am sorry, it is very possible that he still playing for San Fransisco.

Congrats Thumper!

I think the roster is allowed to expand to 80 players once a teams season is over. This mean Thumper can work out at the teams complex and meet with the teams coaches. It also means he will go to mini-camps and training camp. If Thumper is healthy he might have a great chance of making an NFL team as a special teams player. That is usually how you have to do it if you are a low round draft pick or like Thumper a undrafted free agent.

Thank for the explanation....So what does it mean that they signed him at this point in time? It seems like a good thing to lock him in, before the draft, right? My thoughts are that they must want Mario in particular, because they could just wait and draft a LB, right?
