No where to go for HERD baseball but UP for sure. Worst record in the SBC currently and nothing to indicate anything will change for the rest of this season. Coach needs to jerk/not renew a bunch of scholarships and then use them to bring in LEGIT D-1 caliber TALENT!! Lack of facility can no longer be used as an excuse for mediocrity in MU baseball, IMO!!

We need some major improvement next year and the year after. If not, maybe Spears didn't get the right guy. Beals has the tools NOW, the only issue may be NIL.

Mid week games are about irrelevant in the college baseball landscape

There's a portal for baseball, too. Need a pitcher? Get a pitcher. Done being patient. Everyone else can get coaches that win right away. We've done it with women's basketball. We should be hiring on a 2 year contract instead of 3-4 with an evaluation at that time for extension or dismissal. Coaches can build an entire team out of two recruiting periods with no limit to number of scholarships that can be brought in (meaning we can recruit 85 players if we open 85 spots) and a portal full of hopefuls. All the coach has to do these days is be able to evaluate and acquire players within the bounds of their recruiting and NIL budget and talent needs. If they can not get talent within that budget then they need to do a song and dance to get increases. That's the whole job of a coach in today's world. If the coach is unable or unwilling to do those things then it's next man up. Go deeper each time till we find the right guy and then get his butt promoted to a bigger school and repeat. We need to start treating coaching like the carousel that it is and not like a deep grave where people can comfortably come stay till they die with no results.

Herd fans #1 problem. Unrealistic expectations. Quick turn arounds don't happen in baseball like other sports.

We have went backwards under Beal. Waggoner had better teams. Waggoner even went to the conference finals a few years ago. I thought it was a crappy move to keep Waggoner all those years and then dump him right before the new stadium. He did a really good job playing without a home field.

Same level of relevance they?ve always been imo.

They?re a good indicator of roster depth and apparently our cousins across the big sandy in the a sun apparently have more?. That sucks

We need to dangle the NIL carrot to get some EKU and Morehead players.

FWIW...Beals was the Head Coach of The Ohio State University and he never even had the best program in Ohio and arguably had the 4th or 5th best behind Kent State, Wright State, Xavier, and Cincinnati. I have several friends that coach high school in Ohio and not one of them had much positive to say about him. He is a nice guy but he could not get the best players in Ohio consistently which is a huge red flag because most kids in Ohio dream of playing at Ohio State. Recruiting was an issue at Ohio State so I do not expect to see much better at Marshall.

Yup. The only reason Wags was fired is the stole the limelight from CS on the stadium opening. They quoted Wags in the HD. The next day Wags was gone

It was strange the old baseball coach never got a chance after so many years of waiting on a stadium. It was strange that other coaching jobs never went out to the public to apply as well. I wrote nice recommendations for nothing. Hopefully these coaches can win. They have far better resources than any coach before them.

It just seems odd that Wags would be fired for being quoted in the H-D. Wouldn't it make sense for the H-D to want to get a quote or two from the current coach about the new stadium? Was he supposed to clear the interview with Spears? There are two sides to every story and I'd love to hear the other side.

Spears saw HD interviewing Wags. Spears ego couldn?t stand that so he fired Wags It?s all Ego w Spears
