  • conda posted the following depth chart on the nation.  conda is reliable.

    Ahmad Bradshaw
    Gerwin Williams
    Will Alban
    Chub Smalls
    Paco Jones

I like the move,  I felt like we needed Small or Gamble back at RB.  He can play rb or be split out some like Bradshaw.

Does this mean Anthony Hayes is for sure on D?  or just way down the depth chart?

  • Yes Hayes is playing DB now.  I have heard from some people in Bluefield and Princeton that they thought that he was better on Defence anyway.  Only time will tell, its tough for walk-on's in D-1 football.  Im proud we have so many from Southern West Virginia getting a chance to play for Marshall.

    Walk-on's from the south:
    Danial Wells
    John Patton
    Anthony Hayes
Matt Morris ( not sure but i thought he was)

    Scholarship:
    Nate Manns
    Ahmad Bradshaw
    Doug Legursky
    Paco Jones
    Shavar Greer

    We are well represented!

  • From what I've heard and read, Chubb Small is a terrific RB.  I'm sure the coaching staff knows that or they wouldn't have moved him to RB.

IMO, we need help at WR more than at RB.  With Bradshaw, Williams and Albin in front of him how much PT is he going to see?  Even if we have blow-outs, Williams and Albin will see most of the carries while Bradshaw is on the bench.

I say let him play WR and put him at RB if (don't even like thinking about this) something should happen to the other 3 backs.  Now I'll have to go find the other thread where I posted Chubb Small as my pick for break-out player this year.

  • I'm pretty sure Morris was a walk-on when he got here and earn from scholly $$$.

I wonder if Greer is on scholarship by now - they put Herscher on one.

Good for them, they have worked hard and deserve it.

  • I agree DJ.  His speed is valuable for the offense!

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHO IS THE FASTEST ON THE TEAM?  I would guess Small or Hargrove....

On paper, Small is the fastest.  I haven't seen them in a footrace yet though.

This move tells me we are going to run a lot more than we are going to throw.

I think from now on... All prospective MU athletes must run the 40 against DJ. If they tie or beat him... Then they can truly say they have 4.4 speed. I'll call Marcum up tomorrow to finalize this event.

  • I'll reserve judgment until I see him play, It may be a smart move by the coaches.

But, Hargrove,  I would have liked to have seen more out of the backfield during his MU career.  He is fast, but has had "hands" issues.  Receivers that can't catch are as  useful as screen doors on submarines.
