  • Looks good.  Fans will come if you build an atmosphere. There’s no fan fair for baseball because the experience and overall ability for most fans to attend is non existent.  Take Charleston/Beckley out of the equation, a lot don’t even want to drive up the river...

Exactly. If you build it, and build it right, and build it close (on campus)...THEY - WILL - COME.

  • Looks to be on the north side of 5th avenue in what would have been the pigment plant parking lot?  Between  the IPA and the Soccer stadium.

  • Maybe here ?

     https://www.google.com/maps/@38.4256018,-82.4173687,401m/data=!3m1!1e3

HD said 2401 5th Ave which is on the south side of 5th Ave but the renderings seem to show it across the street from that address in the parking lot you show above.  To build it on the south side would require demolition of the building(s?) there and probably issues with chemicals in the ground.

  • To much like Power Park in Charleston with seats going all the way down the lines to the foul poles. Those seats are wasted--too far away and you'd have to keep your neck turned to watch the game. I would suggest more rows of seats from first base to third base where folks can watch the game. But, please don't build all the way to the wall.

IIRC they have specific specs they have to adhere to for CUSA compliance. Not sure about the seating design though. Maybe someone else can shed some light.

  • That was my first thought as well. Use those seats in a grandstand. Build up, not down the line.

Outfield line of sight is horrible down low like that. Hopefully they don’t wait 40 years and cheap it up like that.

    Not impressed.

  • I would say this rendering is much different from what the final product will be. If you look at the renderings for the IPF and Soccer Stadium, they are very much different from what we got. That isn't a bad thing, but something to think about from the rendering to the actual physical product.

  • I’m sure so. Hopefully it will be done the right way.

Use the outfield lines for party deck type environment on one side and family/picnic area on the other.

  • I would guess that the north-south railway right-of-way would parallel the right field line in these renderings.

  • Even better. That would be neat to have a train come through there. Or have the Herd Engine permanently on an unused track.

  • I see where some say it will seat 3,500, can we anticipate it opening with that many seats, or less with room for planned expansion?

  • Just as football fields should be laid out in a north-south direction to minimize the affects of the sun for the players, baseball fields should be configured in an east-northeast direction. That is a line drawn from home plate through the pitchers mound and on through second base will run in an east-northeast direction. Hopefully, this will also be done.
