The last time the University of New Hampshire football team traveled to Huntington, W. Va., to play a football game the Wildcats put up quite a fight.

But they lost to Marshall University, 24-23, when receiver Troy Brown -- yes, that Troy Brown -- scored his first collegiate touchdown on a 46-yard passing play. UNH later pulled to within one but misfired on a two-point conversion pass.

Today the Wildcats will be out for a little delayed payback.

Marshall was opening Joan C. Edwards Stadium on Sept., 7, 1991, and 33,116 fans packed the joint for the christening of a facility that Dale Nitschke, by then the UNH president, had helped get built during a stint at the West Virginia school.

"It was just a phenomenal atmosphere," said UNH associate head coach John Perry, who was a junior wide receiver for the Wildcats that season. "They had the big hoopla before the game."

The contest that followed was pretty good, too. The Wildcats will have their work cut out to match it today.

UNH is 0-1 after last week's 41-24 loss at James Madison and trying to avoid losing a pair of games to start the season for the first time since 2000.
