  • He was also the co-OC at Syracuse under Babers when they were putting up crazy numbers on offense.

He’s my number one choice right now.

Yes. That's a literally true statement. Without context.

Do you realize how bad Kent State is or what kind of shape their program was in?

  • If your scoring 50 PPG at Kent State then you are doing something right. Buffalo ran the ball all over them so defense is a concern, but at the same token they moved the ball on Buffalo quite a bit. Much more than we did. And this was only his 3rd year. You can clearly tell he is trending upward. I’d love to see Grant Wells in his system.

At a school like Kent, that equates to 9-10 for us. I’d take him in a heartbeat

Truthfully probably even more.  Might mean undefeated.

  • I would be excited for this hire.  BUT Marshall is a very lazy university when searching for coaches.  Very stubborn as well.  i don't think they know a potential great coach or great coach when they see one.  They are very lazy with hiring for the Big 2 sports.  Sad ..... truly sad!

  • Interesting but difficult to count this year because they only played 4 games.  Looking at him he will need to have a strong defensive coordinator to balance out the team.

speaking of context.....did he build it all?  or since he is just in year three, is he riding his predecessor's recruiting for a few years and move on.  I've seen a few coach's luck into the right timing and become over rated.

The previous coach Paul Haynes went 14-45 overall, and 9-30 in the MAC. Never finishing higher than 5th in the East division. His offenses averaged 20 PPG over 5 seasons.

Doesn't look like he handed Coach Lewis the keys to a Ferrari.

  • my concern with him is the short track record.  what he does with a team of only-his recruits has yet to be seen.

i understand the optimism.  but we can't bring a coach in here with a 12-17 career record, i don't care what the context is.  you've gotta bring a proven winner in here or roll the dice with someone who'd get the fanbase pumped if they've never been a HC before.  most fans, including myself as of 1 week ago, have never heard of sean lewis & 12-17 isn't gonna bring the old ticket holders back.

  • Sean Lewis 100% built that Kent program from nothing. Kent is a very nice campus but overall it just isn't a football school at all. Their football program has always been trash. And I watched Julian Edlman play really tough QB for them but they still would go 4-8.

His style is think Mike Vrabel. Real tough, hard nose, rah rah guy. Always chest bumping the players and such.

I think Lewis will be in the BIG10 sooner than later is the only issue.

  • I’m on this boat 100% but because we’re Marshall and how we do things I know it will end up being Lambert.

One can hope and wish, however.
