no kidding. he hasn't seen this dead fan base in recent years.
Not just in football, but apparently across the board, although I imagine men's soccer drew well coming off a National Championship. But, generally, MU's Athletics attendance doesn't bode well going forward, IMO.
Despite the professed personal popularity of, and admiration for, Coach D'Antoni, crowds thus far in the CAM would have rattled around in the old Memorial Field House! Pandemic/Covid is certainly a factor, but local economy, Huntington and Cabell County's continued decline and population drop certainly doesn't help. Add to that WVU's continuing spread and growth across the State combined with the fact that MU has utterly failed in developing a solid core of fans anywhere other a small geographical area consisting of a few counties, and what we are seeing attendance wise is the result. Finally, it also appears that FBS sports at MU's level is just not resonating with Marshall's student body as a whole. Hope I'm wrong on some of these points, but that's how it appears as 2021 draws to a close!
