  • I know it sucks but as I said (in another thread) this is a top 5 moment in Marshall sports in the last 20 years. It's been almost 30 YEARS since an elite big time program wanted one of our coaches.

These are the hires we are going to have to make to be competitive again in other sports.

  • I can't blame her. More money. More resources. And if she gets that thing going down there, she has a chance for decades to be one of the biggest names out there. She certainly has a lot of quality traits to be a championship-level coach.

I hate it for Marshall that it was that quick. I hope we can tab her assistant as head coach. I know Caldwell will likely try and take Burdette with her.

  • I'm glad it was an elite program and not UK.

We definitely should have upped her salary significantly if she stayed, but no amount of money within reason was going to keep her from the 2nd best program in the history of the sport and the chance to follow in the footsteps of Pat Summitt.

Don't know much about her assistants, but I imagine the strategy is to hire one (unless she's taking them all with her) and try to copy the system as much as possible.

  • The strength and conditioning coach for women's hoops at UT is Cabell Midland and MU grad Bryan Tatum who beat cancer a couple of years ago. Great guy and one of my former wrestlers. He was at Auburn before he went to UT. I hope he gets retained when Coach Kim assembles her staff.

IMO, UK would've been a better fit for Coach Kim.
She'll have a lot less time to establish a program at UT than UK.
At UT, the big money fans will be calling for her blond scalp if the Vols aren't in the Elite Eight.

They just fired one of their own who had His record and sent to two Sweet 16. I'm sure that's the main reason the Duke coach, who also played at UT wasn't interested. She has to significantly out perform the last coach.

All that said, if I'm in her shoes I don't see how I could turn it down.

I wish her well and thanks for an exciting season.

    I agree 100%

If she had gone to WVU we'd all feel much different
"Too many people are thinking of security instead of opportunity; they seem more afraid of life than of death"  – James F. Byrnes

Government is the most dangerous institution known to man. Throughout history it has violated the rights of men more than any individual or group of individuals could do: it has killed people, enslaved them, sent them to forced labor and concentration camps, and regularly robbed and pillaged them of the fruits of their expended labor. ~ JOHN HOSPERS
